  • Good value for money IF...
Color: Caramel Size: 2 pack Style: 2 Drawer Pattern Name: Dresser
These are a good value for money *IF* you don't mind spending an hour or so (for each nightstand!) on assembly. They arrived well packed, and completely disassembled. The instructions say to use the provided wood glue to anchor the wooden dowels that hold much of the nightstand together. I found the instructions easy to follow; however both sets of hardware were missing 2 smaller dowels, but had two extra longer dowels (so it evened out and doesn't make a difference in the assembly, but I wanted to note it), and there were plenty of extra wood screws of one specific size. One of the nightstands must not have had a pilot hole drilled deep enough, and I really struggled to fully tighten one of the bolts that hold the legs on, and possibly as a result that nightstand is a bit wobbly. I had neither of those issues with the other. I had to use a hammer to tap in some of the dowels that hold the drawers in place, but otherwise assembly was smooth. The directs explicitly say to not use a drill - the wood is soft and I can see if someone isn't careful enough that the wood could be easily split. The drawers don't slide out super smoothly, as the "track" they're on is just a groove in the wood held in place by wooden dowels, but they do pull easily/without catching, so I don't mind at all. Overall, these look nice (if a bit warmer than some of the photos show), and are solid. To the touch you can tell they're not hardwood, but I didn't want to spend $250+ per nightstand, and these are so much better than cheap particle board. If you're not particularly handy or don't have the patience for tedious assembly, you might want to factor your time into the overall cost of these nightstands. ... show more

  • assembly issues are greatly exaggerated!
Color: Caramel Size: 1 pack Style: 2 Drawer Pattern Name: Dresser
The first one took around two hours to assemble including unpacking, reading the instructions, and finding some tools. I used a basic screwdriver, rubber mallet (not hammer), a ratcheting screwdriver and nothing else. The second one took 1hr 20minutes. Most holes are pre drilled, all hardware and pieces are clearly labeled, instructions are perfect, holes all align. The only difficulty some with weak hands might have is that the screws that get installed at an angle do not have holes pre drilled and I don’t think it is possible to have them pre drilled. the alternative is having exposed hardware. These were easier to assemble than IKEA pieces and the parts are better labeled. I’d imagine someone with stronger hands would have these assembled in an hour. My negative comment is that the back panel is not a nice wood piece so this nightstand must be against a wall. In my case this is fine. I’m not installing the back piece to allow electrical cords on the drawers. My advice, use a small low powered battery operated screwdriver and skip the glue. The screws included do not require pre-drilling but you will need to gently push while assembling. FYI - I’m a clumsy old woman with bad eyesight and arthritis and assembled two in a single morning. ... show more

  • Pretty, solid wood, hard to assemble, mediocre hardware
Color: Caramel Size: 1 pack Style: Mid-Century Modern Pattern Name: Solid
This is a beautiful piece of furniture made of solid, honey colored wood, with a lovely modern design. However, it is very hard to assemble. The instructions say not to use a drill, but I found some of the screws impossible to get in all the way without a drill. There was one screw hole missing on a panel. The hardware that comes with the dresser is mediocre. It's all wood on wood, so the drawers are squeaky and don't slide in or out easily. I plan to use powder on them and might update this post if it helps. It would have been better if the dresser came with metal hardware with wheels to make the drawers open and shut with ease. My old IKEA dresser is nicer than the Walker Edison dresser in that respect. I'm not returning it because I've already assembled it, but I probably wouldn't buy it again. Be careful not to mix up the different sized dowels... I accidentally punched a hole in the wood while driving one in that was too long. :'( ... show more

  • Instructions easy enough if you grew up on LEGO
Color: Caramel Size: 1 pack Style: Mid-Century Modern Pattern Name: Dresser
Pros: Looks quite nice once assembled, especially for the price-point. The instructions are pretty straightforward, but whoever designed them definitely seems to have made some assumptions as to what the person reading the instructions would pay attention to in following them. They felt a lot like LEGO instructions where there's an expectation that you know to look for some small details in order to sort our part orientation. Overall not a horrible assembly experience as long as you have ample patience to assemble it "correctly"... otherwise there's a risk of ending up with it effectively assembled but not as sturdy as it's meant to be. Cons: The reviews stating it takes 4+ hours to assemble are absolutely spot-on. The first step of the instructions is legitimately stupid from an functional/engineering standpoint. I combined the first two steps in order to get the pieces properly aligned before starting to put in screws -- this was 100% necessary bc the quality control on the pieces is what you get for the price point, which is to say things might be a little warped and don't line up correctly. Given how soft the wood is, I decided to not use a screw gun, but it's a LOT of screws to drive in manually. I definitely recommend using either an electric screwdriver or ratchet driver and work gloves. Don't be like me and forget to grab your gloves until you already have 4 blisters. Or pay for the assembly labor if spending 4+ hours building a wooden LEGO set that requires putting in ~100 screws and nails doesn't sound fun to you. I could have paid someone to nail the backing on, since that part wasn't fun for me. Some of the pre-drilled holes weren't fully cleaned out. One of the drawers was missing a chunk at the back (must have happened before it was packaged, bc the chunk was nowhere to be found in the box...). The drawers don't line up to have a perfect center dividing line from top-to-bottom of the unit. Warning: Two of the pre-drilled holes on mine were drilled too deep which lead me to put one screw through the side of the dresser unit and one through the front of one of the drawers. I was able to fill the holes and the result isn't terrible, but it's not perfect. ... show more
