I inherited a fairly new LG 55" TV which had no stand or wall mount hardware with it. I wanted a stand that would swivel of course - but more importantly, tilt slightly up and down. Our family room has a bank of windows behind us and even with the shades drawn, an annoying image or glare can sometimes be seen - a simple tilt down or up eliminates it from view. This stand was one of the few. Also, I noticed that many stand TV size ranges stop at 55. I did not want a stand that was pressed to its limits - especially after reading some of the reviews where the stand fell over. This stand was rated for up to 70" so my 55" should be no problem. Assembly was easy and straightforward. Directions were mostly clear. They include two lengths of M6 and three lengths of M8 bolts "depending on your TV" as this a universal stand, along with spacers if the back of your is not flat. The stand comes with 3 height settings, wire management clips for your cables running up to the TV, and rubber feet for the base so as to not scratch up your tabletop. A couple of notes: in my case with my TV and height placement, the cross bars partially block two network jacks (of which I am not using). If I did, I would have probably had to plug in the cords first or chosen a different height. Not a big deal but noting this is a universal stand, everyone's jacks will be in a slightly different location and could potentially be an issue. The only thing that has been an issue for my install were the four nuts and bolts that control the tilt. Given the size, weight and height setting, the tilt is difficult to get to point in any specific up or down direction. Basically, I was reduced to tilting it all the way up with one hand and tightening all four bolts with the other. Perhaps if I had someone holding it, I could aim it better. However, in my case, there is going to be no free tilt back and forth whenever I wish. Right now, it is ever so slightly tilted downward from perfectly vertical so that the glare from behind our sitting positions through the windows will not reflect in our eyes. While the instructions are simple and easy to follow when putting the base together it was when it was time to mount my TV that the issues started. The short M8 bolts are way too short and the longer bolt is just a bit too long. Thankfully they have included 2 different types of washers but the taller ones are too short for the bracket to be secured to the TV. I wound up using 3 washers 2 short and 1 tall to mount the brackets securely to the TV. Then I mounted the TV to the stand and tighten the locking screws picked up the TV off the bed and the screen fell forward slightly and almost gave me a heart attack. The booklet indicates that I can adjust the tilt up by 5° but I am okay with the current viewing angle from the bed so I am going to leave it be. PS the base is glass thick glass but glass nonetheless ... show more

This isn’t at all a cheaply made tv stand, it’s hefty and strong and very nice looking. The top layer of material on the base of the stand is tempered glass and the rest of is metal. I’m happy with this tv stand and I think I will purchase another one soon for a friend.
