I received the fruit picker and immediately put it together. It was pretty straight forward, and easy to do. I ordered the 13ft length which is versatile because you can always adjust the length by removing some of the extenders should you need a shorter pole, but it is good to have the longer length for the higher branched fruit. The pole was very sturdy despite being fully extended, and was very effective in reaching the top of our Granny Smith Apple Tree. The cushion on the caged basket helped the fruit picked to remain protected and unbruised. We like to go apple picking in the fall for other varieties, and we will be taking this along. Because the pole can be put together and taken apart easily, it will be easy to transport. This is definitely a great tool for fruit picking and worth the money.     • This picker saves me from climbing a ladder

I have 2 mature peach trees and I didn't want to climb a ladder to pick the fruit near the top of the trees. This picker allows me to pick 2 or 3 peaches before I have to remove them from the basket. But since the tines (picking fingers) are pointed down, it nicked the skins of some of my peaches. I solved that problem by using a pliers to bend the fingers up slightly. Problem solved. I also have 3 mature apple trees and I am looking forward to picking more apples this year. Since they have thicker skins I doubt that I will have any problem with any damage to my fruit. I saw some reviews that mentioned it didn't feel very sturdy and that it was hard to put together. The picking handle is composed of several segments that screw together. I put 6 of them together and I did not think it was flimsy. If I ran a commercial orchard, I would probably choose a different tool for the job. But for the backyard grower, this picker if fine. As for it being hard to put together, I did not think it was hard at all. I'm a DIY guy myself and it was easy for me to figure out. I hope this helps your choice. ... show more

This picker is very versatile. I can be elongated to 13 feet and still remains very sturdy. We use it for picnic apples that are very high up in the tree as well as a holding basket while we collect apples.

We ordered this to harvest pears from our three dwarf pear trees. The box was smaller than we expected ... because there is some assembly required. Due to that factor, we thought it might not be very sturdy or up to doing the job. BUT, it was sturdy, easy to handle, and it made harvesting so much easier than without the picker! The stick lengthens by screwing on additions - it’s not adjustable on the fly. The upside of that though is it’s much more stable and usesble at full length than telescoping versions. So far, it works pretty great to get apples off of our super-tall 50-year-old apple tree, so they don’t bonk us on the head when they fall. :) ... show more
