We have harsh winters in the mountains of Colorado with temperatures dipping down to -40 below zero F. at night. We have to keep the critters watered and fed through these harsh conditions. We had to fill pitchers up inside and then take out to the different shelters to water each critter so when I saw this heated hose I knew I had to try it even if I was not going to use it for an RV. This now allows us to water directly outside saving time and effort. The hose does not freeze up and certainly helps with the watering chore by being able to just turn on the outside faucet and go. I have had zero issues with this hose so far. I just wish I had the 50' version instead of the 25'. It just is not quite long enough to reach some of the places I need the water. My one dislike besides the length, is that the hose is stiff and likes to stay coiled (see pic above). Now if you are using this for an RV that is probably great news, but it is a little difficult when you want to drag the hose around the yard. I have used this hose for several weeks now and not only does it not freeze up it melts the snow it is laying on! Now if it would just warm up the atmosphere around my house to a comfy 40 degrees...:>)

Love it! No more worries about frozen hookups. Tuesday night, the standard drinking water hose (wrapped in pipe insulation) and the brass hookups to my RV froze and I didn't have water until about lunchtime when the sun (and a few pots of warm water) got everything flowing again. Fortunately, there was no breakage and no leaks. Wednesday afternoon, my new heated water hose arrived and I installed it immediately. I tested it out by running water through it (no leaks) and plugging it in (warmed up quickly). Wednesday night, the temperature dipped below freezing again but this time my hookups did not freeze. The heated hose did its job perfectly. Not only was the hose warm enough to prevent freezing, but that warmth was enough to keep the connections from icing up, too. (Now, I can't say anything about how the connections would hold up in sub-zero weather, but that's not an issue I'll ever have to deal with.) Excellent hose. The heating wire is protected by its own sheath and runs the length of the hose. The entire hose is bonded and sealed with a tough PVC jacket (as opposed to a loose sleeve). Very impressive. Seems to be incredibly tough and I expect it will be around for a long time.

We use this hose to water our animals (chickens, a cow, pigs, just some small animal husbandry). It's so much more convenient to have a heated outside hose than it is to carry buckets of water around from inside the house. Like others have said, the inflexibility and lack of a longer length are drawbacks but even at that, it's so much better than the alternative that I'll deal with it! We live in Pennsylvania and our winters can get pretty cold. Definitely cold enough that hoses freeze all winter. Glad to have found this.

It's common knowledge that winter RVing can lead to plumbing issues, specifically with frozen hoses causing problems for those braving the cold weather. However, I made a proactive decision this year to combat the frost by investing in this heated water hose and it has truly revolutionized my experience. Upon initial inspection, the hose exhibits a strong and high-quality construction. Its vibrant blue hue is unexpectedly cheerful (and earns extra credit for being distinct from the typical black hose color). The weight of the hose is slightly more than that of a regular hose, but this is not surprising given the presence of the heating component within it. Installing the device was easy. You just need to attach the provided adapters to your RV and water supply, connect the hose to a regular 120V socket, and you're done. The thermostat starts working on its own, so there's no need to deal with complicated settings. I can attest that this hose performs exceptionally well in that regard. Even in frigid temperatures as low as 20 degrees, the water has never experienced any interruptions. This means no more hurried attempts to detach and defrost hoses in the middle of the night.

After a week of below freezing temps, our birds still have fresh water. The hose materials seem to be sturdy and the fittings appear to be assembled well with no leaks. It keeps the water in the hose warm enough to prevent the float valve from freezing and allows the tank to refill with no issue. The average cold temps have been around 20° at night. After a good snow, the hose is easy to locate which keeps me from running over it with a snow blower. The insulation is good enough not to melt all the snow on top of it right away but you can see the path where it has melted. Time is the only real test for durability and reliability; I will update the review after the winter.

We’ve had a few days of single digit temps, and this hose has done everything it was designed to do. So far, we’ve had zero complaints and have only added about a half inch of pipe insulation as an added backup. We’ll see how it holds up in negative temps and will report back if it fails unexpectedly.
