  • Worth every penny!!!
Item Package Quantity: 5
The media could not be loaded. Buy it! Spend a little extra, you won't be disappointed! PRIOR TO PURCHASING VViViD BRAND: I spent A LOT of time reading reviews and purchased a mid-priced brand of contact paper (peel & stick wallpaper) and was VERY disappointed as it was worse quality than what I could have purchased at Walmart. I decided to give it a try anyway and applied it to my desktop. It had rips/holes before I was done! Two hours & $$ wasted!!! I could have added multiple layers, but knew I'd need to reapply soon, so I decided to look for a better product. MY PROJECT: After reading the reviews and viewing the photos/videos for this product, I decided to spend a little more than I had intended; hoping this would be the last time I'd have to apply, as clearing off my desk to reapply was not something I wanted to do anytime soon. I have an Ikea Malm desk that measures 55-1/8 in x 25-5/8 in. I added a return to one side (making it "L" shape) measuring 68 in x 23 in. I wanted one solid sheet to cover each of the tops, so I purchased the Extra Wide Film 48" x 6ft Roll X (5 sheets). It was more than I needed, but I figured I could use it for other things; as I was redecorating my office and creative spaces. VViViD BRAND: I am SO happy with this purchase! It is flexible, thick, durable, and very shiny! After I applied it to my desktop, my daughter said it looks like real marble! It can be used for dry erase markers! I've only tried a quick test, so I don't know how it will do if the writing stays on long-term, but it's thicker than a different brand of dry erase peel & stick paper I purchased at Home Depot. It cleans up nicely with a dry microfiber cloth. CRITIQUE: - Edges: Because of the thickness, it doesn't stick to corners, rough surfaces (unfinished end of a board/MDF) and small areas (like shelf-fronts) very well, so it has a more puffy/rounded look rather than sharp square edges. - Scuffs: Because it's so shiny, scratches/scuff marks do show up - but only at certain angles. APPLICATION SUGGESTIONS: - Tools: You'll need a rigid applicator/squeege to push out air bubbles *using your hand/cloth is not enough*. - Small sections: If applying to anything larger than a vase, I DO NOT recommend removing all of the backing at once. >>YouTube has some really good tutorials...This isn't my video, but quick tutorial (note: I didn't use hairdryer): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_l-FWkxkmo - Helper: If you're not experienced applying adhesive vinyl to things, I recommend having someone help: one person hold while lining up, then pulling backing paper away while you squeege. - Don't Rush: Take your time! It sticks VERY well, so lifting after applied is a challenge, so make sure everything lines up properly before removing backing and don't rush the process. ... show more

  • Took away a star
This is the same idea as Contact wall and shelf covering, but so much better. It is thicker, and the high gloss is definitely high gloss. It also looks very durable. However, in reading the reviews someone said to add heat - don't add heat unless you want to wrap it around a corner or something round. Heat makes it stretch and distort. Also someone said if you have minor imperfections it doesn't matter. As long as the minor imperfections are as flat as the surface you are covering then it's fine but if you have any small bumps they will be definitely visible. Finally, I am happy to announce that it does have a repeating pattern and you can line up the patterns top to bottom to have more "seamless" seams. I have two rolls laid out here on the floor (not on my wall yet) just to see where the pattern is and how it repeats - so far I love it UPDATE: I took away one star. While the vinyl is good, sturdy, and fairly easy to work with in sections, the pattern - that I was so happy to report could be lined up roll by roll actually cannot. The pattern is inconsistent per roll. Seams are CLEARLY visible. This is a great product to use in a linear fashion (narrow counter or shelf), but if you are doing several rolls on a wall - skip this one. ... show more

  • Love the idea of this
So I think I am in love with more of the idea of this product than the actual product. It is 100% as advertised and I am undecided on if I would do it again. If it was sold in larger pieces, then probably. The seams are very visible on other countertops but was able to do this one running the length of the cabinet so it is just one seam. The process of putting it down is difficult and is better with two people but can be done with one. No matter how much we tried we still ended up with bubbles, small ones but I still see them. The corners seriously just sucked, for lack of better words. We never really got a good method for corners but thankfully the flaws aren't super noticable. My advice would be to air on the side of caution when using this for countertops. Seriously measure twice then cut then try to apply. In all tutorials I watched it showed you could pull up and put back down if you notice an air bubble as you are putting that piece down. I noticed that it would stretch the material and make it look worse so TAKE YOUR TIME the first time. If you've let it sit for any length of time do not try to pull it up, it will look terrible. I let one strip sit overnight and decided to replace it. It left a horrible sticky residue on the counter. The countertop in the picture was completed with 2 1/2 rolls. We used a credit card to push out any air bubbles, scissors and utility knife for cutting. We also bought a paint edger that was long and straight and it helped if we had to cut a straight line while it was attached to the counter. If you have a perfectly flat square surface then this product would be great. ... show more

  • Easy to use
Item Package Quantity: 2
After getting approval from the apartment I was staying in and constantly seeing the ugly white standard apartment countertops that were installed I purchased this. The countertops that were installed were constantly getting stained and hard to remove the stains. I installed this on all the countertops and it lasted 2 years and probably would’ve lasted longer before I moved. It was easy to install and easy to cut without any rips. Definitely use a hairdryer or heat gun if going around a bend or arch. The adhesive held nicely and the countertops looked like marble and super easy to clean. Would definitely recommend ... show more
