Red message light flashes continually. Does someone know how to turn it off?

This is the worst phone I have ever had. The only way to use it is by letting it stand up by itself and not touch it. If you walk around with it you can't understand a word said. and I bought 2 of them. I have always bought Vtech and they were good but not this one.
