We bought this item through Amazon for Christmas. With 5 children (one in college now) we have bought so many Vtech toys over the years, we have come to know this company for dependable products, in fact, we probably still have all the products we have purchased over the years, and to my knowledge they all work. They pass down to each child and last through to the next. This product lasted for one day, Christmas Day. She (our 6 year old) took pictures all day with it, put it on the charger that night and in the morning it was in a black screen loop. I managed to hook to a computer and get all of her photos. Followed all the troubleshooting I could find and nothing worked. I contacted Vtech to troubleshoot and/or get it replaced. Since I ordered from Vtech through Amazon, I returned it through Amazon and got a refund, had to reorder . . . . The replacement works great and is still working today. This is a great item, very much like a child’s version of an Apple Watch with the screen size but with kid friendly apps. Wish I had one as a kid!!! Unlike other gifts she has received she returns to this one more frequently. Other than the hiccup with the Christmas gift failure, and a couple week turn around for a replacement it was a good choice. Vtech does stand behind their product and makes it right, whether to help you troubleshoot or return. They refunded as soon as the return was in the mail and showed up on tracking. Had to wait to reorder because this particular watch was out of stock. Not sure if this was an isolated issue with this toy but if you do purchase, they do back their product. The media could not be loaded. Purchase this as for my sons 6th Birthday as first Smartwatch, it came in a very nice package he was very excited to get it even though he wanted an apple smart watch (kids these days). It looks and feels rather durable and the straps can be adjusted pretty small. I had to cut a piece of it because my son's wrist is very small. it has a camera and video, so far it's worked without any glitches. My son had it on his wrist constantly for about a week until he moved on to something else (as they all do) he does from time to time take it and play with it show it to his friends. For less than $60 this will entertain your kids just as much as an apple Smartwarch. the thing I like about it is it has active apps on it which require the kids to move around, I rarely see him sitting in one place and playing with it. I'm not entirely sure the difference between the cheaper model as I think I paid a little bit extra for some "special edition wrist band" honestly I could have done without it. Purchased two for my 8 -year -old grandson and 6-year-old granddaughter. They like their new smart watches to the extent that my daughter needs to occasionally give their watches some “break time.” I was concerned that the 8-year -old might think the watch was too babyish, however, he has a lot of fun with it. The activities are quite limited but you can download a few more games from the Vtech site. There is no WiFi which is a downfall and it’s not that straight forward to navigate the downloads. Kids love technology and most of all they love to play. This watch will give them the opportunity to pretend they are grown ups and to take pictures, make videos and do all sort of pretty stuff with a smart watch just like we grown ups do. This has games and stuff they like and my kid got really excited when he recieved this as one of his christmas presents. It is fun and easy to use anywhere. The battery last for a appropriate time. The bands are really sturdy and resistant. The watch is children friendly because it is really easy to understand and the games are really easy to play. My 3 year old son loves this watch. There are so many activities on it, and some that even get him moving (running, jumping). My only complaint, and it will be solved when he gets a bit older with it, is the games do not give much time for him to figure him out. By the time he works out what he needs to do, it's making him restart. Especially the mouse game. I've sat with it a few times and struggled to get the cheese and keys in time. Can be frustrating for him, but I figure he will get better as he gets older. ... show more

    • Fun Watch for Kids but Doesnt Last - Water is Kryptonite

I have purchased 3 of these,. My daughter loved these watches. But just a little bit of water and it will fail. I have tried to fix it and it has been frustrating. Purchased it again , A few drops of water ruined the camera and then the screen. Extremely fragile. Wish they could do a WATERPROOF version. After all its for KIDS. Kids will get it wet in the rain, washing their hands, in the kitchen , etc. I really Really got frustrated today. Been trying to save the watch for 3 days . I thought it was too childish/not age appropriate being 4 and up but my 9 year old insisted on getting it last Christmas. Wow. Lots of features and it has still held her attention after a year. She dove in and figured everything out on her own. It is still going strong after 1 year. I recommended it to a friend with a 6 year old boy and he has enjoyed it. It takes a little longer to figure out but it's kinda of cool to see him discover new things about the watch every so often. This was a great deal with the extra band. This is my second DX2 I purchased for my child, because the first one's touchscreen suddenly stopped working. The watch becomes useless without the touchscreen.
