A Five-Year-Old’s Instant Ticket to Rockstar Status

This was a fantastic gift for a five-year-old boy. From the moment he picked it up, he was jamming out and putting on his own little rock concert. It was one of those gifts that immediately connected, with no lengthy explanation needed before the fun began. What makes this guitar especially engaging is that it offers much more than a few buttons that play random sounds. Kids can strum the interactive strings, press the light-up frets, use the whammy bar, follow along with a rhythm game, and experiment with different guitar sounds. They can also add instruments such as drums and piano to create a fuller band sound. There is enough variety here to keep the experience fresh instead of having it feel like a one-trick toy. It includes plenty of built-in music for independent play, while the wireless connection provides another option for playing along with familiar songs. I also appreciate that it has adjustable volume and a headphone jack. Those are much needed after you get tired of the "jam sessions." The guitar looks appropriately cool and makes it easy for a child to step into the role of a performer. More importantly, it encourages movement, imagination, experimentation, and confidence. It should not be confused with an instrument that teaches real guitar technique, but as an introduction to rhythm and creative musical play, it hits exactly the right note. Based on how quickly this five-year-old took to it, I would happily recommend it as a birthday or holiday gift for a young music fan. It delivers that wonderful combination of instant excitement and enough different activities to keep the concert going after the novelty wears off. It's not an inexpensive toy, but I feel like it's pretty well built, and VTech is generally a brand that stands the test of time. You can generally purchase stuff from them with confidence, knowing it's going to be quality and it's not going to break a week later.

Encourages the inner solo rock star or play with the band!

My granddaughter, aged 9, is already a huge music lover. She has a keyboard and drum set but no guitar yet. So, I ordered this hoping to add to her collection of kid friendly musical instruments. She loves it! She loves how easy it is to play the guitar in different ways, never getting frustrated because "it's too hard", like some other kids play guitars. You can easily stream music via Bluetooth, or play the songs/melodies provided. She really enjoys the light rhythm game and has already mastered the hand eye coordination required to play it. The guitar has 4 different guitar styles and includes strings and a whammy bar. There's also the option to add musical instruments to make a band. I find that this has really amped up her imagination as she likes to make up songs and melodies and this fits right into that. I love the colors and design, surprisingly, the sound quality is great and if it gets to be too much, there is the option to put in the earbuds. Volume control is simple, allowing for jam session or for quieter, softer music. This is not a rechargeable item, it does require 4 AA batteries. For the amount of time my granddaughter plays with this guitar without getting bored, I think it's price point is fine.

New favourite toy

This is an absolute hit!! The Bluetooth feature is pretty much used exclusively haha. There are a lot of little mini games to play with the guitar. However, there aren't many songs that come on the guitar itself. As for the Bluetooth mode, just hook it up to your phone and okay music off of it and it'll play through the guitar while they use it. So it's perfect for pretend play. This thing gets daily use and it's still holding up. Its lightweight enough for the 4yo to carry but sturdy enough to hold up to the standard life of being owned by a toddler lol. The lights are nice. The volume control is great. It looks nice. It's a nice size. A perfect toy. It would make a great Christmas gift.

Super cute and fun little guitar!

My 5 year old absolutely loves this and I'm so glad I ordered it! Seriously I'm surprised at how cool this is! The fact that it's basically a fun little looping system combined with an actual guitar that you can "pluck the strings" and it changes the sound playing, or you can tilt it up in the air to make it kind of warp the sound slightly, it's just so cool! The only "issue" I have with it is just that the guitar strap falls off super easily and it really frustrates my 3 year old, but he's learning to just leave it alone while he's playing so hopefully that won't be an issue soon. One other thing I want to add to this is that I'm really happy that it folds up, it's super nice to have and easy to use, so it takes up a good amount of less space when you want to store it for later. All in all I give this an absolute 10/10, definitely recommend, it's a fantastic kids toy and super fun guitar for any kid that likes music!

This thing is rockin’ awesome. I grabbed it for my 3‑year‑old, and she has not put it down. My 10‑year‑old keeps sneaking turns too, so clearly it’s not just for the little ones. I was honestly surprised when the interactive strings actually worked - you can strum them or tap the whammy bar to play the catch‑the‑light rhythm game, and the fret lights make it super fun. The sound quality is great, and there are six ways to play, which keeps both kids entertained. My 3‑year‑old is obsessed with band mode, jamming along with the built‑in music and mixing in drum, piano, and guitar sounds. My husband even jumped in, played the rhythm game, and joked he might end up playing guitar more than the kids. It also connects wirelessly so you can stream your own music, and the 30 included melodies give plenty to jam with right out of the box. Batteries are included for demo mode, but you’ll want fresh ones for regular play.
