I've had VTech wireless phones for at least the past 15 years. They are long lasting and durable. The sound quality is excellent. So what's my problem? In trying to add more features to prevent these desktop phones from becoming obsolete, they've added more menus and submenus. Some of the most common functions you'll need or want to use are hidden in the menus and submenus. The most common usage features should be the most readily apparent from the buttons on the phone, not hidden. Also, the "manual" is lacking. It's a good "fast start" type of manual, but you're going to have to figure out the menus and submenus on your own. Nothing explains them in an organized way. Then you have to remember the functions, because there is not "cheat card" the summarized all the function succinctly. Considering that VTech got the important stuff done correctly, not making the usability and manual easier was a huge mistake. Look for an easier phone. ... show more

This Cordless landline handset was extremely simple to setup. It has all of the "modern" perks that cordless landlines offer today except the ability to announce the name of the incoming caller. *warning* for this (and for other brands, too, apparently) the design is NOT to answer calls from link2cell. So, if you thought you'd drop your phone by the base on the way in and then have it integrated into your home life with the home answering machine, you are mistaken. It will ring through and give you a reasonably clear call, but the base's built-in answering machine will not pick-up for link2cell calls. [see page 89 of the manual: "If you turn the answering system on, it answers calls and records messages only on the home line. If your paired cell phone has voicemail, callers can leave messages with that voicemail service."] ... show more

    • Don't waste your time!
Style: 2 Handsets with Super Long Range
After I received the phone I charged it overnight. The next day within a few hours the phone died during a call. My first thought was that I must not have had the phone securely on the charger and would charge it again. The following day I verified that the phone was fully charged and within a few hours the phone died again. I called VTech and started a case with their team. They asked me to swap batteries with the other handset I received to rule out if it was a battery or phone issue. After swapping the batteries I fully charged the phone over night and once again tried the phone the following day. I will say that this time around the battery lasted about twice as long but still did not make it through the day. I would say it was on standby for about 3-4 hours and about 2 hours of talking. What I noticed is that the battery indicator stayed full for almost the entire time but as soon as the level indicator went from 3 bars to 2 the phone dies shortly after mid call. I proceeded to call VTech and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes decided to take them up on their option to call me back. They stated I would receive a call back the same day and if not right away in the morning. After two days of waiting and no call back I am returning and moving on to another company. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more for a quality phone and a decent battery! ... show more

These are great phones with a lot of distance between base and handset. Having multiple handsets lets me leave these in various buildings on the farm and be able to find a phone for outgoing or incoming calls. I've also taken to carrying one around in my pocket as I go about farm chores if I'm expecting a delivery or a friend. They have worked flawlessly. They do have trouble getting a signal when I'm in a metal building with no base unit - understandable. The sound is good on the speaker phone function, I can stand them up or lay them down to talk while I am cleaning, weaving, crafting, whatever. I have bought these annually for 2 or 3 years now. We have a problem with lightning!! Since the lightning destroys the base unit, I buy another set and then call vtech and have them walk me through manually resetting the extra handsets to use on the new base. From now on, I've got to commit to unplugging both power and phone cord whenever a storm's in the forecast. ... show more
