  • Best Looper for the Money I've Found
The VSN Twin Looper Pedal. Man, this thing. First off, the usual: It has buttons that button, knobs that knob, and switches that switch. You know it wouldn't be me reviewing if I didn't say that. So, it's built out of a solid piece of aluminum, so like a tank. The buttons button, have a nice click, feel good and solid. The looper button starts the loop, stops the loop, starts the overdub, and hold it down to undo/redo/erase. Super intuitive, super easy to use. The switches control the function of the second button: FX mode it controls if you're using the speed knob to speed up/slow down your loop (you can have some twisted fun with that), in stop mode it controls stopping the loop. The other switch lets you reroute which instrument is going to which output, so you can swap amps on the fly, and adjusts the forward/reverse of the loop (the whole reason I got the pedal--you'll note in my video the loop I play is the same forward or backwards--I did that on purpose--please excuse the horrible playing, my hands are shot with nerve and tendon damage, I'm working on getting back to where I was). The knobs, as with every pedal of this type I've played so far, are just a sheer joy to turn. I have mild sensory issues in my fingers (nerve damage), and I really like the way they feel when I turn them. They control the level of each instrument, and as mentioned, the speed of the loop. It even has a USB function you can pull your loops off of it, or add loops to it to play along with. 5/5 Stars, would fly this hotel again. ... show more

  • Not a Big Muff But Lots of Cool Sounds
The S-Fuzz is another cool VSN pedal but probably not the most popular. Why ? Because it’s not a Big Muff sound. It is more of a ripped speaker sound. Two simple controls: volume, fuzz. Although not a smooth creamy fuzz you can get some less ripped tones by using your guitar volume. Very little noise until the fuzz is maxed. Good results with chords at high fuzz, lower guitar volumes. Equally good results on individual notes with all control settings. If you are looking for something off the beaten big muff path, maybe even some doom metal sounds, this is a fun fuzz. I have other VSN pedals, they are high quality builds with cool graphics. ... show more

  • The Octave Pedal I should have bought in the first place.
Color: Red Octave
Bought this after buying and returning the underwhelming EX Analog Octave Guitar Pedal. This one works as advertised on my guitar, bass, or ukulele. It *IS* polyphonic (unlike the EX which claimed to be but wasn’t), and can even handle full chords. It tracks very well with no lag. Like all octave pedals, it gets a little less accurate on very low notes, but I have no complaints about that. The octaves will sustain for as long as your original note holds. There is no noise when switching it on or off and no hum when it is on. The labeling of the dials is a bit counterintuitive, because you control five different octaves with three knobs and one toggle switch, but it is easy to figure out eventually. The important thing to remember is that the knob labeled Oct 1 always controls the lower of your artificial octaves; the knob labeled Oct 2 always controls the higher of your artificial octaves. So, in Top mode, Oct 1 = +12, and Oct 2 = +24. In Both mode, Oct 1 = -12, and Oct 2 = +12. In Bottom mode, Oct 1 = -24, and Oct 2 = -12. ... show more

  • unusable: pitch accuracy & latency.
I’m comparing this VSN Harmonizer and the Mooer Pitch Box to the Donner Harmonic Square. They’re all pitch shifter mini pedals but only the Donner is usable (i actually replaced my EHX Pico Pitchfork with the Donner which is $50 vs the Pitchfork’s $200.) The VSN and Mooer have extremely inaccurate pitch tuning on all intervals and close to slapback level latency. hilarious. The Pico Pitchfork has some very cool features but the sound is really weird and cold. I’m a jazz/blues/fusion/rock/whatevs player and use octaves with drive for lines, 5ths and 4ths for lines and some “synthy” chording over a static tonal center. The Donner sounds great clean or with varying degrees of drive. definitely worth the price. ... show more

  • Don't be fooled by all the good reviews Don't be fooled by all the good reviews
I wasn't expecting Boss or Line 6 quality when I bought this, but I thought even for a cheap pedal, it'd sound decent. This is not all it's cracked up to be. I'll start off by saying the ocean verb is horrendous. It cuts out your volume substantially, even with the volume knob turned all the way up. There's not much room for adjustment either. The delay is ok. I've had better, but I've had worse. The echo is a little tricky to get to sound right, but not too bad. Probably the only upside to this pedal is the distortion. It has 3 options. I personally like the tight setting. Great for blues. And because of the distortion I'm giving this 3 stars. But if you're looking for a mediocre delay and decent distortion pedal, and have some unused space on your pedal board, this may be a good option. I'm not that impressed with it however. If you're looking for a diamond in the rough, this isn't it. ... show more

  • Best looper pedal I’ve tried at this price point
I’ve tried a few looper pedals on the market. The one this resembles the most is the Electro Harmonix 720 Stereo Looper. Both are stereo, can store loops, run loops in reverse, and slow down loop speed. This VSN Twin Looper, however, has some additional perks and features for about $100 less, new. First of all, the VSN is much smaller. It sits about half as high and has a slight smaller footprint overall. Additionally, this looper can store loops to a computer via USB connection and comes with instructions for doing so. This feature to me is potentially more useful than the onboard storage of the 720, as it effectively turns the looper pedal into a recording device without the need of any outbound equipment. Also, the VSN Twin Looper has a much wider array of speeds to which the stored loop can be altered. It can be sped up or slowed down to various settings, respectively. The sound quality seems perfectly fine to me, and I haven’t yet experienced anything “cheap” about this pedal. For the price of a popular TC Electronic Ditto Looper, this VSN pedal brings a lot more to the table and is definitely worth a try. Take a look at my video for a short rundown (pardon my lack of skill). You will be impressed by what this VSN Twin Looper has to offer, at least. ... show more

  • The easiest, most intuitive, plug’N’play looper I own/ very cool. Instant Fripp/ Eno performances. The easiest, most intuitive, plug’N’play looper I own/ very cool. Instant Fripp/ Eno performances.
First of all, the size of this pedal is wonderful. I was expecting a larger, plastic thing for the price. This is a very slim, sleek, but weighty metal enclosure. I’ll post a pic: it’s about the size of a mini pedal, but feels more solid. This may be the perfect”Goldilocks” looper pedal for me. I have one button loopers: way to frustrating for live use. I have the larger 2 to 6 button versions. First of all: the Boss and Jamman pieces are so glitchy. And require advance programming to have ready for live use. Although: None of those would fit on my pedalboard anyway. This twin looper is as small as can be while still having room to comfortably step on both switches. The pedal is very intuitive/ for plug and play. I figured it out immediately. You can run it as a 2 switch looper. Standard “Start Stop and Overdub”. But the you can flip a switch and have it turn on “FX”. Change speeds and directions and stereo placement. And keep playing over or overdubbing the whole thing. The sound quality is the best of all my loopers. Probably because it is such a new pedal. Hi-Fi sound/ no noise. I was playing this well in under five minutes. It cost over $500 less than my Boss Loop Station. I still don’t have my loop station set up for live use. (You have to program all the buttons for every song you wanna do. Not for “on the fly” use. This is , for sure, the pedal I would use for jams, live, and if I wanna record something quick in the home studio. Also: this is probably the only looper I own that I could drop and it would survive without damage. ... show more

  • Great value looper
I was in the market for a simple looper, but never liked using ones with a single footswitch to control everything. This effect box solved that problem. I used to have a fairly expensive looper (for its time) a few years back, and some of the features I liked were the ability to change the speed of the loops, and also to be able to reverse the loop. This one has both! Great features if you plan on creating ambient guitar beds. I should point out that the speed control is a notched dial, so you can't make smooth, micro adjustments to the speed. But no complaints, given the price. On top of all that, this looper has stereo ins and outs and 10 minutes of recording time with unlimited overdubs. There is a USB port, which I assume allows you to transfer loops to your computer. It wasn't recognized by my Mac, so perhaps it only works on a Windows PC. Despite not being able to take advantage of that, I'm more than pleased, given the price. ... show more
