My German Shepherd, Josey, plays hard and sleeps hard. I'm a retired dog behaviorist and trainer and have 4 very active German Shepherds of my own. I have several different types of dog beds throughout my house with washable covers on them. I use giant trash bags to cover the inner foam so the foam doesn't get stinky or soiled. My GSD, Josey, loves to play in the pool in the summer and roll in the snow in the winter and, well, towel dry him or not, he is still damp ALOT. So, I started looking for a bed with a waterproof cover since the trash bags are a hassle to put on the inner foam, especially when taking the covers off and putting them back on again.... which is something I have to do often since Josey gets all the beds damp alot, lol. Presto!! This bed is not only easier to keep dry and clean but Josey prefers it over the ortho beds throughout the house. So, this dog owner is dog-gone happy! I needed to replace the crate bed I had in my pups space and decided to give this one a try since it was priced so well. The bed itself is great quality, very soft, did NOT have a bad smell to it, and is lasting well. However, I felt like this pad was pretty thin, so I ended up adding a couple of blankets underneath of it to add some thickness. I think the thickness of this bed would be perfect as a topper for one of those elevated dog cots. This bed is so soft, and it feels like better quality than the more expensive ones at Walmart. My dog absolutely loves it. It’s the first bed she hasn’t chewed to shreds.
