The media could not be loaded. This is not the first electric shovel I have owned, but is my first cordless battery-powered shovel. Having used a battery-powered lawn mower, string trimmer, blower, power drill, etc. for a number of years, I no longer have the concerns I used to have over battery life or lack of power, as the battery-operated tools have proven themselves to have comparable power to that of corded tools, and can usually finish the job without needing a recharge. I especially like not being tethered to a power cord and being able to make a path to the mailbox, clear the front walk and go wherever I need to go, without tripping over a cord or worrying about it getting caught up in the snow thrower. Out of the box, this power shovel comes mostly assembled, requiring attachment of the snow thrower attachment to the shaft and the handle to the shaft. I installed the U-shape because itโ€™s larger and provides more hand-hold options than the more-narrow closed loop handle. The handle is adjustable along the shaft, so you can tailor the fit to avoid back ache and fatigue caused by using the shovel for extended periods of time. The tool is fairly long at about 55 inches, so me being 5ft-7 inches, Iโ€™m not having to hunch over during use, and with a twist of the wing-nut, I can adjust the handle to make the tool a better fit. The fully assembled tool weighs in at about 10 pounds with the 20V li-ion battery installed. You push the shovel and do not lift it during operation, so you donโ€™t really feel the weight. The head of the shovel is 12-inch wide and is good for about 4-6 inches of light, fluffy snow. This shovel is ideal for small driveways, walkways, decks and patios, and also can serve as a back-up on those rare occasions when there is a foot of snow on the ground and my 2-stage snow blower doesnโ€™t want to start. The battery has some weight, but the majority of the weight is in the shovel end, which does a nice job of throwing the snow and getting down to the pavement. The manufacturer claims the snow thrower attachment will throw snow 15 ft, I will update this when I use it. Overall, Iโ€™m very satisfied with this VOLTASK power shovel. ... show more

I originally gave a lower rating due to the shovel having difficulty moving very wet snow and throwing the snow mostly toward the front. The company contacted me BEFORE I had the opportunity to call them. Excellent and very timely communication. They said they have some their engineers and designers working to correct those issues and offered a refund for the purchase price. They recognized the problem, they communicated with their customer (me) to rectifying the issue to my satisfaction, and explained what they were doing to improve their product. One couldnโ€™t ask for a better response from a company. I also found that if you canโ€™t the shovel slightly, it will throw the snow left or right. I would recommend giving them a try. ... show more

Two days after delivery, I got to try it out on a 4" snowfall. The snow was 'packable', great for making snowballs and the shovel struggled a little bit to throw the snow, but it got the job done and I cleared the sidewalks easily without having to lift a heavy shovelful of snow. That was my reason for this purchase. Assembly of the shaft, on the otherhand, was frustrating. The shaft is in three sections with the power cord running up the middle and the sections are bolted together. But, to insert the bolt through the two sections, you have to try to move the cord out of the way of the incoming bolt. Easy for someone with three hands, but difficult for the average human. I bought this just to try, not expecting much. I was amazed how good it works and how much time it saves. I live in the mountains of Utah and just used it to clear 8" of snow from steps, decks and walkways. It powered thru it all with long battery life. I used it a day after the storm on wetter snow and it handled that too. I am more than pleasantly surprised at the power and ease. The only low marks I would give it is the quality of build. It is somewhat flimsy and the handle loosens often. I wonder how long it lasts but if I have to buy a new one every winter it is worth the stress on my back. ... show more

I have to say that this shovel has exceeded my expectations. I bought it just in hopes of clearing light snow from my sidewalk & patio. I live in western PA in higher elevations and have been receiving a mixed bag of precipitation this winter so far. We have had freezing rain...sleet....light snow....heavy dense snow. This shovel really has performed well. It throws the snow far & even tore through heavy slush & ice chunks including the heavy snow with gravel that resides at the beginning of my driveway from the snow plow. Works for my driveway but still have to shovel my walkways because it only blows straight so to use this on the walkways you are just piling snow where you are trying to clear. It's just ok

This is the nicest shovel,saves on your back.. Just wishing they would hurry and get the extra batteries out. Battery life is pretty good Just have a larger area where 2 batteries would be nice..
