These mats gave my seedlings the boost they needed. I start my plants I doors early spring each year so they are ready to plant after the last frost. Here in the Midwest that’s usually 2nd week of May. My plants were ready to go a bit earlier this year and I’m guessing these mats were part of the reason. I checked them daily for fear of leaving them on 24 hrs but they keep a constant temperature that’s perfect for sowing seeds.

I know this item doesn’t have the temperature adjustment but so far I think it’s safe to say it’s been keeping in the temperature range as it described. I’m using it for fermentation and I’m seeing some progress on my fermentation. Great product!

I assumed it got up to about 80°sF like most heat pads. But one day my seeds left a brown spot on the paper towel. The one that had a tap root, the tap root was all mushy. It cooked them. I put a thermometer on the pad and found that it went up to as high as 102°sF. Ruined a about $50 worth of seeds. I found that if I tack some zip locks to the wall and just have the bottoms of the bags with a little water touching the mats, it keeps the entire bag at about 75°F. Perfect for germination. The new batch germinated and had a inch long tap root in two days.

Super easy to use, you just plug it in. The material is really sturdy plastic and it’s water resistant. It also came with a nice little storage bag, which I threw out, but it could be helpful if that’s something you might need. I had never owned a heat mat before and I was scared that it would be really hot or seem like a fire hazard and that was not the case at all, it’s just gently warm and safe for wood furniture. My plants definitely transition better to LECA on these mats (plural because I liked it a lot and ordered a second one) and my basil and mint sprouts are popping off. The price is great for the quality and I highly recommend it. (Like seriously I have been recommending this in real life to my fellow plant people)
