I bought these as a beginning gardener so that I could add more space to my backyard and replace plastic pots. I looked at reviews and saw that it was highly rated; now I know why. The grow bag is transportable, and the x-stitched handles on the side are extremely sturdy. For a beginner who is questioning why to buy grow bags instead of a traditional pot here are some reasons: 1. The breathability of the fabric allows for air pruning, meaning that when the roots reach the side of the pot they will not spiral like a normal pot, but grow healthy spreading to different areas 2. The breathability of the fabric also prevents overwatering. If you’re a gardener you know how sometimes it can be so easy to accidentally over water; not with this grow bag. The air that flows in through the sides of the fabric allows to dry out the soil a bit faster, preventing overwatering. Though this causes you to have to water more often the insurance is worth it. To combat the water loss in the grow bag, you can add something like leaves as mulch on the top. This prevents the sun beating down on top of the exposed soil. Overall, this product is sturdy, portable, and helps keep your plants healthy and happy. I would recommend this to someone who is an aspiring gardener seeking to get into grow bags. I thought I would try growbags this year and so far this has been a good decision. The bags arrived on time, maybe early even and I just now was able to use them after our strange winter weather. First thing I noticed is how light they are. The handles will make them a cinch to move around . I was transplanting veggies that I had started earlier and the difference in the heat of the container vs a grow bag is amazing. I am surprised some of my plants survived the heat in the containers they were started in. Next , I wasn't sure how much soil would end up being needed. For one 30 gallon bag I used 1 3/4 of a 50oz bag of soil. That left about 3 inches at the top so If I need to I can add some more soil. The texture of the bags I think is going to help with the horrible snail problem I have this year. In one bag I planted 5 egg plant starts pretty much around the circumfrence and put some flower seeds in the center to help with pollination. The next bag I put peppers in nd since they were older seeds, I over seeded so we will see how that goes. Next bag is for tomatoes and I think 3 could fit but I would not put more than that in . I also put basil in with the tomatoes. Final two bags will be for squash and cukes. The bags will also be able to be easily hooked up to drip irrigation and I have seen where a small whole on the side will enable that easily. I bought solid containers thinking I could start my seeds inside, put them outside when warm, and bring them inside for winter. But they were too heavy to lift. These 5 gallons contains are lighter weight and although somewhat heavy can be light and moved. I started my seeds and put them by the window. My only problem has nothing to do with the product, but my cats . They like to sit in them to look out the window or curl-up in my planters to sleep. So if your plants don't grow, you can use them as a cat bed. (Thinking about getting more and putting wire around them to keep the cats out.) ... show more

OK, as far as my low stars, I just rated what they asked about, maneuverability, sturdiness and durability. However, you don't buy them for any of those things. They work great for holding dirt and trying out how you want to do raised gardening, etc. If you know you want say a small lemon tree for years, go with something more durable. However, they work great for a tomato, pepper, etc. I did have something chew off one side of one of mine but it must not have liked it too much because it didn't come back, or maybe it was just my dog giving it a try? Work great for what they are designed for but not what I was asked to rate. ... show more

The grow bags arrived today. They are very good quality and highly recommend this seller. My plan was to use them for tomato plants, but 10-gallon grow bags are WAY too large. You could plant a lemon or olive tree in the 10-gallon size. My tomato plants were overdue for planting, so I planted them in my garden as usual. I didn't want to return the bags (as error was mine not seller's), so repurposed them for storage of various items. Perfect! The bags are also the perfect size to put split wood in to carry into house. Next year I'll buy the proper size and try tomatoes again. ... show more

I bought three different sizes of these bags. They were all made well and are functioning as expected. I've read reviews about the handles snapping off when being lifted. I fold over my bags so that the handle is tucked under the flap created. I don't lift the small ones by the handles, I just carry them, and the small ones are the only ones that are growing spinach or salad greens that appreciate shade during high summer. The bigger ones are never going to be moved so the handles issue is not a problem for me. ... show more
