I grow in my basement. Even though it is a heated, enclosed, fully temperature controlled basement this mat makes a HUGE difference in seedlings, germination and clone-rooting time. Yes, temperature matters. Do not ask me WHY, I only know since using this heat mat for germination and seedlings I have NEVER lost a one. Now I have two of these wonderful mats. They really help with ALL plants, especially if you are growing ANY kind of tropical plant (and many people DO enjoy Orchids and other tropical plants) this is almost a NECESSITY to simulate rain-forest conditions.

I'm using it to regulate the temperature of my kombucha brew. I had to put a towel between it and the jar to keep the kombucha from getting too hot. No thermostat to adjust temp. Great value for the money though..

These mats maintain a constant temperature about 10 degrees above the room temperature. I may add a thermostat later, but they are fine for now.

I bought these on sale on Amazon. Thereโs 2 in the package. Each needing a separate plug to work. They are rolled up in a fairly small box, and come with a nylon bag for storage. To make them work, you just plug them in and place your planters on top of them. They are suppose to warm the dirt from underneath. An instruction says to use clear plastic covers over your planters to trap in heat for better results. How warm does it get? Barely. It says it will warm your planters by +10 to +20 degrees F over the ambient surroundings. So, if your basement is 45 degrees F, then you potentially will get your planters up to only 55 degrees F. Thatโs far short of the coveted 70 to 80 degrees to speed amore likely cause seeds to pop open and grow. So, as I said, zi just got these. They work, and each fits two of our square sets of planter trays! 10x10โ. I may upgrade my review after a couple of weeks, but I donโt think this is quite what I was hoping for for our new, too-cold indoor garden.
