I recently had bunion surgery and was searching for the best option for a cast/boot cover for showering. After looking at many options, I selected this one and couldn't be pleased. The plastic is very thick so it is very sturdy. I had to "walk" to the shower with my booted foot and no tearing on the bottom. It is easy to hang to dry and reuse the next day. The rubber opening is sturdy, but I could stretch it over my boot without assistance. If your cast is very large, past the knee - you might need help to pull it on. I have a sensitivity to rubber/latex and the opening never irritated my skin. The actual opening pulled over my boot (18" circumference in widest part) relatively easily. I only needed it for ankle and below, but needed to pull it to mid-calf for a good seal (approximately 14" circumference) because it was too loose to leave at my ankle. This wasn't a problem, I just mention it as an FYI. The cover never leaked so my foot was dry after every shower - using either sitting on a stool or standing. I was also surprised that the product came with a card to register for a warranty ( 1 year, I think). This was super easy - just enter the Amazon order number and a few details and all set.

This product works as advertised, keeping my plaster splint completely dry in the shower (I still leave my leg hanging out of the bathtub though). I even inadvertently sprayed it directly with water near the seal at one point and it kept the water out. I chose this version of waterproof cast protector because of the rubber sealing ring that stretches to fit over the cast so I can continue using it when I transition to a bulkier orthopedic boot. My one criticism of the product is that it is somewhat difficult to put on and take off by myself. Obviously, the tightness of the rubber seal is what keeps the water out so it’s necessary but because of the awkwardness and inflexibility of the splint, I had some trouble keeping the ring stretched open enough while trying to get my leg in so I had to get it on in spurts. Same thing when taking it off, it was hard to keep the ring stretched out so in getting it off, it ended up displacing some of the ace bandage. Not a big deal because the bandage is only there to cover the splint but that gives you an idea of how tight the rubber seal is. Overall, this is an excellent product that is going to be a lifesaver.

This really came in handy post-meniscus surgery. Per my doctor's orders, I was finally able to take a shower 48 hours after my knee surgery but must keep my operated knee dry. Because of the tight rubber opening at the top, this cover will not fit if you have a heavy cast or brace. I had to remove my full knee brace in order to fit my knee. I found it easiest to put on while sitting and propping up my injured leg on a stool. Similar to how you would put on socks, you would roll the leg cover all the way down and slowly insert your foot from the bottom & pull up the cover until it reaches to your upper thigh. Make sure the rubber opening is flat and is tight around your thigh. The rubber grip on the sole is good for preventing slippage but you still have to be careful in walking to the shower. I've used this twice a day for 5 days and it really is waterproof. No drop of water ever entered inside the cover! I highly recommend this for anyone for covering from surgery and wants to keep their wound dry and intact while bathing.

This has worked well. Soft cast for a couple of weeks did require an extra pair of hands so it didn't disrupt bandage but now in a hard cast and absolutely no problems getting it on and off myself. No leakage, covers well and has held up for 4 weeks so far.

I am 132#, so not that large. It worked great for 2+ months. Today the back portion of the blue "umbrella" seal that I was so pleased with just ripped apart . It was not under any pressure (I noticed it when I went to take it off). It was just hanging there. I use the handles provided to help get it on and my ortho brace is not that cumbersome to get over. Considered using Gorilla tape to patch it but I can't imagine it would be a fix. I don't relish forking out the $ to replace it.
