Obviously I will update if anything changes over time, but this "ViscoSoft 3.5 lbs. Density 3-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper (Queen) – Includes Ultra Soft Removable Cover" right off the bat seems a lot better quality than the many I've purchased in the past, including the highly -reviewed NovaForm one from C O S T C O that ended up being a dud after seeming great for a brief time. This one I feel is different because it is so much heavier of a weight and doesn't stay indented like the others. It's hard to explain, but it is soft without sinking in to it. We have a Serta pillowtop mattress that failed and sunk in the middle after only a few months of bliss. ALL mattresses are horrible quality these days, regardless of brands or reviews and there is nothing changing, so we had to get creative with toppers, which led us to the long road to this one. My husband wants a firm mattress & I can't sleep on firm & we both have neck & back issues. THIS topper seems strangely suited to both of us. I watched their video (which, GREAT job by the guy talking about it, very interesting) was informative & like all of the unique traits. I will without fail change this review if anything changes because the whole bedding situation in this country (and lack of quality or workmanship) is my pet peeve & am tired of being scammed. I do not believe this will be the case here, because there does seem to be pride in workmanship. UPDATE 3/02/21: We recently stopped using the one we had but will now likely buy another of this same one. We have found that ALL memory foam degrades (not something you'll see, but you'll feel it in body aches), though most are 6months to a year before you start feeling the effects, this one happens to have lasted longer. Another thing we have recently done is watch videos on You tube re: removing the innards of our regular mattress with springs (they say the problem is almost NEVER the springs, it's the memory foam layers) and replaced it with a "Sleep On Latex" (great company/website btw, not the one used in the videos) medium firm 3" LATEX pad, enclosed with a mattress case, then got another latex topper to actually use as a topper (this one in the SOFTEST rating (which is NOT soft when you are talking latex, trust me, get the soft for one on top). This will be a lifetime mattress set-up that solves the no good premade mattress at any cost anymore problem. Being the "Princess & the Pea" that I am, I still prefer to have this memory foam topper on top AS WELL, but unfortunately it will just need to be swapped out every couple years for new (while the latex ones remain a stabile foundation). Anyway this is a great topper that should at least give you a few years of great rest. The old one will go on a rarely used guest bed. ***UPDATE 12/3/22 Rotation/turning 180 degrees worked! The second one lives on (and I now realize I prob could have been doing this with the first one) UPDATE 11/25/22: Starting to get those familiar body aches a year & a half into the 2nd order of this, which is a frustrating but unfortunately expected part of this process, and much longer than any other brand in the past. What I am going to try this time is rotating the pad. If that doesn't work, we will swap the newer one for the original (currently on unused bed). If that doesn't work, we will reluctantly come back for a 3rd (it really is the only option out there anymore, and this is definitely the best choice vs the ones that degrade at the 6 mo point).     • Great REAL Memory Foam Topper

This topper is great and has helped us out a lot since we got it about 2 months ago. At first it's super weird, since it's real memory foam and has that odd hard feeling when touching it, but then as soon as you sit on it, or lay on it, it quickly relents and the foam forms to your body like a glove, providing amazing support. The first 2-3 nights was really just about getting used to how different it feels compared to your normal bed mattress. Because it forms to your body and more weight and pressure points quickly, it's almost like a feeling of sinking into quick sand, haha. But you quickly get used to that, and after 3-5 days, it's normal and doesn't feel that weird anymore. It's also kind of hard to roll over and move once your body has stopped moving, as the foam forms to your body. So it's a little harder to roll over and get into another position, but it's not a deal breaker or bad. Just something to be aware of, and it's actually good, because that means it's doing it's job and forming to your body shape. Then after that, it's smooth sailing. Seems to be made really well and of high quality materials. Before we decided on this mattress topper (after LOTS of research), we were not sleeping well most nights and had pain in our body. It woke us up in the middle of the night and early in the morning often and it was hard to get a full nights sleep without waking up or having pain in the morning. After looking through the tons of choices, we decided on this one for a few major reasons. - Seems to be made of a very high quality memory foam, not the cheap fake stuff - The cover over the topper is nice and also has a cooling gel material in it (which actually works) - The thickness is perfect. Not too thin, not too thick. Still works with most sheets - Priced well for what it is. I higher quality topper. It's not the best one, and it's not a cheap one. It's a competitively priced high quality topper and I can't imagine many other more expensive products being a whole lot better. Only marginally better possibly - And obviously it has lots of positive reviews that seem real (whether they are or not is debatable) So since we've been using this topper, we've noticed we fall asleep easier and faster. We stay asleep longer with less waking up. We don't roll around and move as much. Our shoulders and back don't hurt as much. And we can actually sleep in some days when we have time. Overall it's helped out quite a bit, but just want to preface that by saying, it's not a miracle working solution. I still have aches and pains in my body from sleeping 8 or more hrs, and it's not like since we bought this, we magically sleep like a teenager again. But... it is MUCH better than just the mattress and has changed our sleeping for the better. To put some quantitative numbers on this, I'd say with just our old mattress vs with the topper would look like this: 1 horrible/5 best Ability to sleep without tossing and turning Mattress: 2 out of 5 Topper 4 out of 5 Ability to sleep without waking up all the time Mattress: 2 out of 5 Topper 4 out of 5 Sleeping on your side without massive shoulder pain Mattress: 1 out of 5 Topper 4 out of 5 Comfort Mattress: 2 out of 5 Topper 4.5 out of 5 Support of your body Mattress: 1.5 out of 5 Topper 4.5 out of 5 Overall it's a great topper and so far so good. Might do a long term review update in a year or two just to see how well it's holding up. But so far, it's great and we love it! ... show more

Don’t know if this topper will work as well for you because I can see how someone might think it could solve all their old mattress problems. For instance, I have an 8-year old Beautyrest hybrid pillow top that has just begun to sag a bit in the “hip area” where a great deal of weight is positioned nightly. The pillow top is fairly smooshed by now and I was beginning to feel the springs in the mattress. Ouch. My back began to ache especially in my lower back. And my shoulders too. Also, my body type is a bit more fluffy than most - so that’s another thing. I almost purchased a lower cost topper that I’m sure is a fine product, but not for my circumstance. I did some research and discovered I really should get a higher density foam topper that would support my weight better - like this one. Also, I am a hot sleeper and was worried I would be sinking into the squishier topper. Turns out I made the right decision because this one supports me like the brand new Beautyrest did when I first got it - maybe better actually. I don’t feel springs jabbing into me, it seems to spring back to normal after a short time, isn’t hard to get out of bed and is a joy to sleep on. Hard sometimes for me to even get out of bed in the morning cause it’s so comfy. FYI - for heaven’s sakes BE CAREFUL — it will take a few nights getting used to when you first install it on your old mattress. Your topper will increase the height of your mattress (duh) and you might forget and have an accident. Really. ... show more
