The violin is carefully made and packaged. It came in original factory setup. The minor tune up and strings are already installed for you, which was helpful. But you need to manually set up the bridge and tune up using any app. The sound is pretty classic, and the wood is glossy. The rosin needs some friction to break in as it was too smooth to apply to the bow. I simply rubbed the two against each other to make it caorse (yes they provide two rosins). There are also extra 3 sets of strings. Great product overall for a beginning learner who wants to explore the string world!

To be up front, I am no violinist. I am a would-be violinist who has wanted to play for some time and ordered a very inexpensive violin a few months ago to get started. When I had the opportunity to order this violin through the Vine program, and saw the price was 30% higher than the one I currently own (though still inexpensive as instruments go), I believed it would be at least somewhat higher quality and jumped at the chance to order it, thinking I would upgrade and give the other one to my niece. The good: this violin comes in a choice of beautiful finishes, I selected "natural matte" and it really is pretty, and is a basic beginner quality much like my other. As for the quality, I can't see why this is $50 more than the other one I have. This didn't even come with the bridge pre-assembled, which I understand is common for lower priced violins to avoid potential damage in transit but my other one came with it in place already, and I didn't know how much I appreciated that until this one did not and I had to place it myself. I can't see choosing a budget-level violin and then wanting to pay to have it installed professionally, so I watched a couple of videos and got it done; it is not pre-notched for all the strings, there was 1 notch and one more that was *maybe* a notch, once I set the strings in place the bridge wood is so soft they notched it themselves, but I wish there had been notches to guide the string placement, because again I am no pro here. In fact come to think of it, if you are purchasing this for a beginner, it doesn't make sense for them to have to *fiddle around* (get it? fiddle? lol) with these details and risk scratching the finish or breaking a string right off the bat (ask me how I know that is possible). Also, this may sound petty but the case on my cheaper "Insoul" model tastefully did not brandish its name across the front of the case, unlike this one which boldly announces that it is a "DDFFEJRE" brand (classy huh?). It does come with some standard accessories, one extra of each string, 2 rosin, etc. I prefer the free Master Violin Tuner app I have on my phone to the included tuner which I found unreliable. In the end, I will still pass one of the violins on to my niece because I already told her that I would, and they are both nice enough basic models for learning so it's a toss up which one to give or keep. If I was going to choose to purchase one again, I would save $50 and get the other one because they are almost the same thing, just the other doesn't have the range of finishes to choose from. This one in general is just fine though if you prefer it. There are just better values to be had in my opinion if you shop around.
