Minus 1/2 a star because I've a margin of doubt as to the 'durable' part of the marketing; don't get me wrong, it is no doubt tough enough and then some - as long as it remains intact; I'm pretty sure if it gets much of a tear that goes unnoticed/unrepaired and one climbs into it, the rip will go and that person will blow through it and end up on the ground. No doubt it will be easy to repair if ever needed, which is always a plus. With that in mind, do a double-check before getting in it, simple. It is light enough it would be unnoticed for weight in a pack, and it is soft, squishy enough to pad items that need some extra. I look forward to giving it a test drive this year, more incentive to get out in the woods again! ... show more

I own a very similar single hammock to the Vigel Camping Hammock. It is super lightweight but durable. I ordered this one for two reasons: (1) I wanted a double hammock so I could use the hammock with my kids or a partner. (2) The single hammock I own came with ropes rather than straps, and the rope would sometimes unravel. The Vigel comes with two durable straps, so I'm hopeful that it will stay up more reliably than the ropes. Everything is self contained in the built-in pocket. It is a tight fit, so you have to be patient when folding everything back up. The straps are designed with one large loop on one end and ten smaller loops on the opposite end. The single loop end gets wrapped around the tree or post, and the ten smaller loops are used with the carabiner on the ends of the hammock to adjust. I'll be taking my kids camping next week and taking this hammock with us. I'll report back how it performs in the wild. ... show more

This hammock is ok. It is not the best I have, but it is a decent cheap hammock. It is longer than my ENO DoubleNest, but not as soft as it. The material is more like a dry nylon, and it is very noisy. It is easy to be stored on it’s bag, that doubles as a side pocket. It also comes with 2 tree straps. I saw someone suggesting to use carabiners on the straps as well, for an easier setup and agreed that this is a good idea! ... show more

I give this 5 stars because it is superior to the last two hammocks, I have owned which had a higher price point. The material and workmanship are excellent: triple stitching throughout without any "hanging pendants" and the build is such that there is less sag in the middle as others do, which makes it more comfortable. I am really looking forward to bringing this along during my summer camping near the northern boarder. When I initially set it up, I found that there is a lot of Initial stretch in the product (especially the straps) and, I found myself bottoming out. Bummer. However, after I retightened it, there was less sagging and, after a third tightening it held beautifully. It was more comfortable than my other hammocks as it had very little sag in the middle which gives a more comfortable position when reclining. Since the only attachment points (my trees) were so far apart, I had to use almost the full length of the straps. I had to put the straps up about 7 ft high (the instructions suggest 5 ft) and the result was that when not weighted by a body, the top of the hammock was about waist high. Once in, I was at a comfortable 2 ft off the ground. (Did I mention very little sag?) I am not sure if this was simply an error or a flaw. I ordered a 2 person large size but this hammock will only fit one person. Upon checking there is nothing in the packaging or on the product which denotes the size of the hammock. I therefore do not know if I was mistakenly sent a single hammock or, if this is considered a two person. If the latter, then it would be a flaw in design but, I feel it most likely was just an error in shipping so, I cannot deduct points for a non-the-less very nice product. ... show more

I'm extremely pleased with this hammock set. I have an older single person parachute material hammock that I have been very pleased with, but I was curious to check out this double hammock. The parachute itself is well-made and on-par with my older one. It is lightweight and packs up remarkably well for such a large hammock. I love how easily it packs into the built-in bag. For that matter, I love that I don’t have to worry about keeping up with the bag since it is built-in, and the positioning of the bag makes it useful to keep small things handy while laying in the hammock. It's worth considering how large you want the hammock to be. While it is nice that this parachute can handle two people, the additional material makes my two-person hammock tend to fold up on me like a burrito when I’m in it alone. The included carabiners are durable and well-made. I did track down ultra-lite carabiners for my other hammock, so I know even thinner and lighter options are out there, but the included ones are well in line with my expectations and very strong. The straps are better than I expected. I was excited to realize they include various connection points to attach to the carabiners so that the hammock can more easily be set to the right tension. I love this feature in straps, but I had thought it might be overlooked since they were sold in a set. The best part of the straps may be that they can fit into the hammock sack right along with the rest of the set. This makes it very convenient to keep everything together. I would like to get some hook-and-loop or some other way to hold the straps together when they are rolled up and packed. ... show more
