  • Better than last model
style: Headphones V2
Replaced the older Vic forth model with this updated pair. The other pair lasted about 4pr 5 years then started to cut off and have static in the right can. This model seems essentially improved from last model regarding sound. Isolation allows more sound to penetrate than last model but given change in the plastic headphone shell properties, the drums seem to have a brighter sound rather than warm. Overall happy with purchase. ... show more

  • They're exactly what you're looking for - good ear protection with decent enough sound
style: Headphones V2
I needed headphones for practicing drums. That's what these are for. You're on this page because you know everyone uses these and there's a reason. While the sound isn't outstanding at all, it's more than good enough (and better than a lot of drummer headphones). The exterior sound isolation is very good and makes it safe to practice drums and you can keep the music volume low in the phones. Very happy I finally bought these. ... show more

  • There is a reason these are a standard for acoustic drummers
style: Headphones V2
Super Hi-fidelity they are not, but they still are well in the good range, especially for what are intended for, that is protecting an acoustic drummer's ears while still providing for an enjoyable playing experience. They do fit tightly, which I have to believe is good for isolation, but you will know they are on your head. These are NOT active noise cancelling, but rather passive noise isolating. You can still read the drums acoustically through the cones, but I find that adding just a bit from the drum mics in the monitor mix brings out more of the clarity and richness of the kit. Still, there is enough of the drums reading through that it would be very reasonable (in my opinion) to play just hearing them passively through the cones, at least playing inside an enclosed cage. Bottom line, I was surprised by how much I liked these, especially for the relative cost. ... show more

  • By drummers for drummers.
style: Headphones V2
No nonsense, comfortable and with a balance of volume, tone and isolation that is almost perfect for drumming anywhere. Also, not priced crazy. Great for studio and practice work. I Highly recommend them. They are hands down better than all other alternatives near this price range. And many above it. ... show more

  • really dig these headphones ... but...
style: Headphones V2
they're a tad tight and always trying to fold up on themselves... however, for the $ and usage in studio, they simply work well

  • Great ear protection with a caveat
style: Headphones V2
These headphones offer great hearing protection. I used to practice the drums with a regular pair of earbuds in, and I could sense that it was damaging my hearing. Sometimes I would use musician's earplugs, but those aren't great if you're trying to play along to something. That was my motivation for getting these headphones, and I haven't looked back since. I have had them a little over a year and I use them every day. The sound quality is decent. In my opinion, these are ear protection and the fact that you can listen to music through them is a bonus feature. They're great for playing along to something on the drums, but I wouldn't recommend them as 'listening headphones'. They look pretty cool compared to other ear protection, so I guess that's a plus. My one complaint is that they are uncomfortable to wear for long periods. I usually take a 2 minute break after every 20 minutes of practicing because of this. You could probably get around this by putting some foam on the headband, but it doesn't bother me enough to want to put in the effort. Overall I'd highly recommend these to any drummer, even in light of the discomfort issue. ... show more

  • Man, these start to hurt after a while
style: Headphones V2
Unlike most customers for this product, I just use these for listening. I'm not a drummer. That said, I can't imagine wearing these for long even if I was a drummer. I was hoping my ears would get used to it but they just hurt more. Maybe it's because I have a big head (I wear size XL hats) but these are relief to take off. ... show more
