  • Good for Me
Color: Natural
I play Jazz and I like maple sticks for their weight and overall feel. I was searching to replace my old favorites (that are not available anymore) and experimented with a bunch. The weight feels good to me and the the 5A size suits me, so I get my cake and eat it too. I happen to like the shape of these tips too. I've had them for a few weeks and the quality is good , with no issues. While all of this is subjective, I can definitely recommend this product. ... show more

  • Lightweight, bouncy, and nice tip for drum heads
Color: Natural
So like most drummers, I have had about every stick out there and wanted to give these a try in a common size but with the maple characteristics. They are how I expected them to be in terms of lighter than hickory and slightly bouncier. I do like the way my snare and toms sound now with mics with these tips, more full spectrum with lows-mids-highs all present (full bodied). However the hi-hats appear to have lost a bit of the metallic sound and now have more wooden stick click instead. I prefer these for quieter pieces or simply when hands are a bit tired after longer sessions. ... show more

  • My choice for “louder” music.
Color: Natural
5A is the most versatile stick out there imho. These are maple and I like maple sticks. Lighter weight and the wood is softer so rather than chipping your sticks they just get dented. My usual choice is a 7A stick since I play more finesse but I use these when I need to play louder music. I am not a “rock” drummer tho, meaning I don’t hit the kit as hard as I possibly can, so these last me a long time. If you need something harder go with 5As in hickory. ... show more

  • Drumstick is not food
Color: Natural
Do not be fooled while this looks like dead tree carcass, and has the name drumstick it is in fact not edible... This is used for drumming and rhythm beating of noise cylinders. Has a wood head, no nylon covering the tip, So if you play like a fool and need to have the tip wrapped then this is not for you. But if you appreciate the good bounce back, the feel of a pure wood drumstick with a coating of varnish (lacquer, magic clear protective coating), then pst get these ... show more

  • Very comfortable!
Color: Natural
I used the 5B maple sticks which are great but I felt like trying out the 5A maple which are even better! Those are definitely my “go to” drum sticks, their light weight helps with speed, I love those sticks!

  • Maybe good for jazz or kids?
Color: Natural
I used to biy vic firth til i got these, i bought 6 pair of these and they all broke in less than a month in pretty relaxed playing situations idk if they were all just poorly manufactured or what but ive never had sticks break so fast, i had 3 sticks split down the middle during a single 4 hour rehearsal session and ive been using 5a for 10 years now and typically get at least some rehearsals and a few shows out of a single pair. I would have been better off with xbox rock band drum sticks. Wont be buying vics anymore ive moved onto promark fire grains ... show more

  • I tried ALL of the brands and I found my new best friends in the Vic Firth Heritage Maple line
Color: Natural
After 30 years, I felt I needed to make the switch from hickory to maple, in an effort to save my hands from tension and shock. I tried ALL of the brands and I found my new best friends in the Vic Firth Heritage Maple line...the 5As are for me! If you're looking for a lighter tone from your cymbals so the guys at the front of the stage will stop giving you the stink-eye for playing too loud-- maple may be a great choice for you too! And my hands don't hurt anymore from trying to muscle the hickory so much. Woohoo! Get you some! ... show more
