If you’re hoping for DeWalt performance, this tool will disappoint you, However, if you’re willing to accept that this tool is a bargain buy, and are willing to take the time and extra effort to work within its limitations, then it works just fine. So if you have the patience to get to know the tool’s limitations, and go easy on it (eg. take multiple lighter passes rather than fewer heavy ones that cause the motor to bog down. And let the motor cool down for a few minutes after a slew of passes rather than doing all your planing in one continuous stint) then the planar does remove material well and gets the job done. The motor does have a suspicious chemical smell when it gets hot, which motivated me to let it cool down between passes. I personally use a cheap infrared thermometer to keep an eye on it as it’s running. It is rigidly built, but dust collection Is poorly designed. Make sure to oil the sliding parts, as wood dust soaks oil up very rapidly on this machine. If you don’t want to fuss at all about the machines shortcomings, then just go for the DeWalt and save yourself a load of frustration. ... show more

I am seriously impressed. I used it to plane down oak pallet boards (aka, stone), and it did it flawlessly. The best thing is the total lack of snipe at the ends. Once I got down below 7/16, there was some, but geez, I’m not complaining. Yes, you need to connect a vacuum. Stop complaining about the fit and visit the plumbing department. Come on. Basic stuff, here. That said, I was lazy and just rested my intake in the hole, and it worked fine. 😝 Haven’t found blades for it in a 2 pack, but I’ll just keep the extra for next time. I'm disappointed in Vevor with this one. I've had it for about nine months now and it's my least favorite large power tool that I own. First and foremost, I implore you to look at the scale that came with it (they even still have a picture of it on their ad on Amazon - see my first picture which is straight from the horse's mouth) - the second picture I've included is a picture of the scale from my actual machine. Notice anything funny about it? Look at the inches - look very closely. Look at the spaces in between the inches. There are ten marks separating each inch. Inches aren't separated by ten marks like millimeters are. They also don't align with millimeters like this scale shows (for example, 6 inches DOES NOT equal exactly 150 millimeters); THOSE ARE NOT INCHES!! I don't know what they are, but they aren't inches. This makes it impossible to get precise AND ACCURATE thicknesses from this gauge. Even if it WERE accurate, the inches are divided in ten tick marks which makes it impossible to measure, say, a quarter inch?? 5/8"??? How does a reputable company like this make such a huge mistake??? I replaced my scale with a REAL scale (see third picture); look at the difference. This is an unforgivable mistake, in my opinion. This alone deserves a 1-star review. But I'll keep going... The knob on the raise/lower lever comes off, and when it does, it's nearly impossible to get back on. It is not at all robust. It is not at all easy to use (you have to be careful when turning not to put too much pressure on the knob so that it doesn't come off); it's hard to move it at all, let alone trying to get it to a precise thickness that you want. I will say that I've been much more pleased after having added a REAL scale to the planer and scrapping that other abomination, but it's still an annoying machine. The snipe on it is horrible. It doesn't take off much material at a time without tripping the breaker. It's just not a good value. Go with something like a Wen or something like that if you're going for a budget planer. And make sure you opt for the helical one, not a straight blade (invest the money, you won't regret it). I simply cannot rely on this machine. What was Vevor thinking??? That scale, smh.
