Very glad I changed out my OEM RV issue for this, works great, easy to install and set up for LifePo batteries. Now I get over 30 amps left over pumping up my batteries when the std 30 amp OEM gave me almost nothing. Highly recommend. Update: the fan runs with the slightest load and sounds like a small jet engine. Actually loud enough to be distracting in the RV. Suspect it's not supposed to run with 4-6 amp load? Batteries are full, OVP is on, and solar is closed at the controller as batteries are full, yet the fan runs when anything is turned in. ... show more

Disappointing. I really have mixed opinions on the charger. First, let me say that I chose this converter for its compact size and its special LiFePO4 charging mode. The 80A converter only outputs 55A. I confirmed this on a second unit as well. The manual says that in Li mode, after fully charging the battery at 14.6v, the voltage will drop to 13.6v as a storage mode. I never have seen anything except 14.62v out of either charger (even after the battery BMS disables charging to protect from overcharging.) I contacted Vevor to get clarification on the low output current and the lack of a "storage" voltage. Their initial response was see if you can get it fixed locally. Then they quickly responded that since I had purchased it on Amazon, my only recourse was to return it to Amazon - end of communications. I was only looking to understand if I needed to do something different to get the published operation. So, while I am still happy with the size, ok about the lower output current, and disappointed about the "special LiFePO4 mode", it still functions as a fixed output voltage charger and fit the available space. One last cautionary comment is that this converter comes equipped with a nema 5-20p connector, so you will either need an adapter to plug it into a standard outlet or need to change the plug. ... show more

This thing is an absolute beast! It's not too large in form, but it puts out a LOT of juice. The 80A is at 12V, so you're talking about nearly 960 watts. Considering it's at 80A, you need THICK cabling on the 12V side... we're talking 0 or 00 gauge. Don't think of trying this with thinner cabling as you will overheat those wires. It's also loud, but again, that's to be expected at this output level. Keep in mind that you'll hardly need to run it for long to refill even large batteries from dead. Great value for the money! Doesn't have all the bells and whistles like bluetooth monitoring and such, but when you're on a budget, it's hard to beat this! ... show more

    • High amp portable car charger is utilized correctly

I highly recommend this for auto techs. As cars get more complex, so does the battery draw as you work on them with the ignition on. 10A automatic charger isn't enough. 30A automatic charger is barely enough. 50A+ automatic charger can cost you in excess of $500. A 100A automatic charger can cost you over $1000. This 80A charger is ideal when you want your own high amp automatic charger. Please take into consideration that this is designed to be permanently mounted to a vehicle and set to one setting and left as is, not to be jumped around vehicle to vehicle- so mishandling may not just give you the "(audible beep), try again" warning. A stand alone voltmeter is recommended for monitoring. The discrepancy in the amperage output, mine measure 40-50A under normal depleted battery charging, but stress testing via carbon pile battery tester, it puts out 86A when the battery dipped just under 12V- the recommended cable gauge is 8AWG or larger (may impact on performance), I used a set of 6AWG jumper cables cut in half (now you have a spare set). This charger, a hard plastic case to bolt it to, and jumper cables totaled to about the 1/3 (or less depending on the manufacturer) the cost of a user simplified, high amp charger. ... show more
