First, with almost all home paint guns or non commercial type paint sprayers, most paint and some stains need to be thinned out. If using any paint or stain that has been opened or sitting for a while, strain any clumps or "skin" before use. Some thinners may dissolve the "skin" and make it more usable but do not take any chances. If getting paint or stain from a hardware store, just use the Wagner brand spray gun because the nozzles and everything are almost exactly the same. The hardware store is usually more knowledgeable and even have knowledge on where to look for the information on thinning out and recommended guidelines. Thinning agents are based on the type of paint or stain. Caution: Do not treat all latex, enamel, or other paint the same, there are different types of Latex paints and thinners may work with some but not all. Many stains can be thinned out but not all, please consult with the local hardware store or use the brand's website, including emailing or calling before purchasing. I have only stained a part of my fence because some of the boards already are needing replacement. I should have stained them a long time ago. I am thinking about talking with neighbors and having the entire fencing replaced as it was done very poorly. The stain I was using was already designed to be sprayed so was fairly thin. I asked the local hardware store to find out if there was any recommendations or special items for cleaning and got them all at the same time. This had no trouble with the stain for the section of my fence that I did stain. The weather seal that I wanted to use on top of the stain was too thick and was not able to be thinned out. I will use a different weather top seal after replacing the fence boards. Indoor paint that I used to repaint a small section of my bathroom was a water based paint. To thin it out is not as simple as adding water to it, I needed to use a certain type of thinner agent and followed the instructions on the can of paint. This paint was purchased at the US big chain "W"-mart store. I had to thin this paint a little more than indicated on the can. I used a cardboard box to test the paint before using. During use, the unit became a little bit heavy after a little while of using. I have arthritis in my shoulders and this may have been the reason. This unit does hold less paint or stain that the brand name indicated prior and this does become a big pain to refill so often. This is not a huge problem unless you are doing a larger project. I am also using this sprayer to paint models and a few other small items. This is not bad and does well with thinned out model paint. Small details can not be done with this unit but spraying the primer on all the pieces and doing the primary color works great. This may be a bit too much for small models but mine are mainly 1:10 scale sized models so this is better.. It does use more paint than a hobby air brush but the coat is much smoother. I have not tested all 3 of the spray settings but have tested with different air pressure settings and this does very well. After I get more painting done, I will update this review if needed and attempt to get some photos or even video of this sprayer being used.

I got one coat on and will smooth it out with a second coat with the paint splotches. Didn't work great but wanted to give an honest review. Regardless whether with 10% diluted primer or paint, the spray is inconsistent and splotchy. It does not lay an even coat and the final product looks similar to using a paint roller. To get get close to full coverage it needs to be very close to the item, just a few inches which makes for a very narrow coverage. If using to paint a book shelf or other item where you cannot get the sprayer close to the surface it will leave spotches. I do not recommend.

We have lived in our house for 30 years. I am the painter in the house, but I am getting older and things that used to be quick aren't as quick now. I needed something to help get this chore done quickly. The price on these painters has come down significantly over the last few years, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't hard to get going. Nozzle size took a minute, but I got that squared away. I strained the paint to remove clumps. Not gonna lie, it took a few tries to get a smooth coverage, but that is as likely user error as anything else. I was able to paint a 10x10 room in just a few hours. (I'm old. I need breaks. Your time will vary) I was also concerned about cleanup, but I tackled that immediately and it wasn't too bad. And I would rather spend more time cleaning that painting, so it worked for me. Bottom line - if this old lady can figure it out, pretty much anyone can. I'm going to use it on my privacy fence next spring.

I didn't expect a professional power painter for $40 and I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It's lightweight and easy to use. You basically just fill it up, plug it in, and go. I painted some wood safety rails by our outside stairs and it looks just fine. There is a small learning curve like with any new tool, but even my 8-year-old son can paint things with it. It's a useful tool for a small price.

This is by far the one of the worst items I've ordered on amazon. 10000x slower than just painting. Waste of money and time using this thing. Paint comes out slower than anything i've seen. Threw it in the trash after wasting 15 minutes trying to get it to work

This paint gun works as described. I haven't had an opportunity to use a bunch of different types of paint or areas of application (I definitely plan on it though!) but I have used a primer in a large area so far and it has worked pretty good. I haven't had any clogs and there has been minimal overspray and dripping, some of which I'm sure is user error. Like any paint gun, it isn't exactly the quietest tool and you definitely have to cover areas around where youre spraying, but that's normal for using any paint gun. If there was one that ensure paint would only get on the walls, that would be news to everyone. Otherwise for the features, ease of use and price, I definitely think this paint gun is a good investment and value. I plan on using it a lot as I'm updating an older house that needs every single wall painted, primed or both. I'll 100% update this review if my opinion changes or if I have anything addl to add with continued use.
