I have an Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 Kayak…if your kayak is not smooth bottomed, or if it has any grooves in the bottom hull, get the Plug In style…It is very hard to adequately tighten the strap with the C-Tug, even with ratchet straps. If you roll over any bumps or rocks the whole kart is likely to shift sideways, causing you to have to stop and readjust the kart before you can continue on. Unless you’re moving your kayak over nothing but smooth paved terrain, I’d suggest going with the Plug-In style since I had to come back and order the plug in… Summary: C-Tug sucks for grooved hull watercraft, Plug-In is the way to go.

If you can get it assembled (I suggest youtube; the included "instructions" read like a blind person described it to an illiterate person, who narrated it to somebody who couldn't spell, who then wrote it on a typewriter made in Russia) this is a neat product. WAY more functional than the (tiny single) wheel built in to my particular Kayak's tail! The "easy to disassemble for travel" feature looks neat, but means the thing kind of falls apart every time you pick it up. I'm sure once I build up a routine, it'll be fine.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Bad design. Fell apart under weight of my plastic moulded kayak. Straps made if slippery nylon that doesn’t secure tightly in the latch mechanism. Not good!

Kayak made getting ready more enjoyable and faster so just open garage set kayak on carrier and pole down the road to water with no worries even on the asphalt.

I only got to use this thing once and it gave me issues from the get go. Straps would keep coming off and not hold kayak in place. Claims it can be taken apart for easier travel but is impossible to separate once you put it together. The flimsy Kickstand also snapped right off, getting rid of one of the main features. Would have returned if I hadn't missed the window to do so but I didn't get the chance to use it until after that date passed.

Nice and durable but clips don't stay crossed to keep wheels locked on.. had to run heavy zip ties through to keep wheels locked on. Which keeps me from tearing down to store them.
