This is a poorly designed item. The cable has no guide when winding on the drum and gets kinked and frayed when trying to unwind the cable. I never got to use this winch out of the box, except for trying to get the mangled cable off the drum. Buyer Beware, the seller’s cooperation to resolve the warranty issue was worthless, Informing me the cable is a commonly replaced item at my expense and never even addressed a missing nut on the drum. I do not recommend buyers purchase this product. After several request to send spare parts with no vendor action, I finally got customer support to replace the entire winch assembly. I will finish this review after I receive the New Winch.. The vendor has shipped the replacement? The replacement winch has been received and appears to be in new condition. Receipt of the new product resolved my issue, & gained my respect for the company warranty service. Great winch for the price.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I was concerned about quality but I am pleasantly surprised! It appeared well built but appearances can be deceiving. I got to put it to the test finally yesterday. I recovered a 5000 lb car with a seized rear axle by dragging the car uphill and sideways. After numerous long pulls the motor was barely warm to the touch. It pulled easily and the wireless remote option worked flawlessly. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another

I was tired of cranking the boat up so I came up with this and it works great. It had a steel cable on it but for a boat trailer it was too long. One problem I saw but it was my fault when I cranked it in being there is to much cable, it has to go on straight or it will get under the spool lip. If you don’t shorten the cable you better make sure it goes on straight. Now it only goes about 8ft behind the back of the boat. It has a wireless remote you can stand at the back of the boat and run the winch. It even has a in and out switch at the winch itself. I ran a 2 conductor wire from the battery to the back of my car. I put it underneath out of the way. I then made a connector from car to the winch pigtail. Works perfectly.

Comes with a nylon cable not the steel cable pictured, don't really care for the bottom bolts on the winch itself as they use a threaded insert instead of threading into the body and the bolts are very short so one stripped out when installing. I've only used it a couple times and it seems to work ok. The short control cable makes it a little difficult for me to use on my trailer tongue, but for the price I guess I'll make do.
