You get what you pay for here. This come along is not made of quality materials the plastic feels cheap and the metal is not the best. If you're alright with that than this may work for you. I'm not sure about the 4 ton pulling capacity but it could probably do it. Installing the catch for the gear that the wire sits on was a pain and the instructions are unclear so be ready to mess around with that. over all I think this is a decent product for the price.

If you have used what is commonly called a come along before you will understand. There is a small spring loaded lever that sets the tool to ratchet in the cable such as when raising something. This lever is spring loaded and when flipped to the other position it will allow you to ratchet out the cable as when lowering something. Mine will not move by hand. I was finally able to move the lever using a large pair of pliers. Now it is in the lifting or pulling position and will not move back to the out or lowering position. A total waste of my money.

If you use a come along on a regular basis, you probably want something better. But if you just need one every now and then, this is more than adequate.

This is a heavy duty tool with a lot of pulling power. It is hefty and feels tough. I used it to pull on a dead oak that isn't ready to come down yet and it moved it quite a bit. It helped me to get the hang of it. First, it does not have the little orange plastic covers over the tabs that you pull on the engage/disengage the pawl. I will probably wrap them in duct tape, as they are uncomfortable (suggest good fitting gloves). Also, as the load got tight, the plastic handle slid off of the metal ratchet. It has a small hole that lines up with the metal, but there is no bolt to hold it in. That is something I will also try to remedy, as the last thing you want when this starts to pick up a load is something sliding around. Also, the instructions that came with it do not state it, but you have to engage the ratchet with the handle, then release the stop pawl on the back side in order to slowly take the load down. Overall, it's a good tool that just needs a few adjustments to make it great.

Way cheaper than the hardware store price for a much better product. Feature packed. My farmer husband says he will be getting six notes because he has six miles of perimeter fence to put up. I stumbled across this and took a chance. He is happy to have this. Comfortable handle, double ratchets, easily switches between single and double line pulls without tools.
