  • Good value, good enough
Size: 2.76 in x 6.3 in
The Jacobs is smaller than it looks, about 1/4" fully opened, so I didn't get to use it for its intended purpose. But it's going to find use, I'm sure, so I'm keeping it. I like the shroud it includes for a disc cutter so you could possibly use it like a tiny table saw. The power brick has selectable voltage which gives you different motor speeds. It's a sturdy enough, good enough hobby helper and I doubt you'll find better value in the price range ... show more

  • Works extremely well
Size: 12" x 18"-1 HP
This lathe performs even better than expected. Use for turning pens, but would not hesitate to turn a bowl on it. Will do that soon, but for now just enjoying having a lathe I can use. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting a midi lathe.

  • More of a toy than a tool.
Size: 2.76 in x 6.3 in
Didnt last long. Interesting to play with, not much of a tool. It obviously doesn't have tons of power given its size. I immediately made my own tools and tool rest. The ones it comes with are no good. After about 1 months of Heavy Use I must've overheated the motor too many times because it still spins but there is a clear lack of power making this nearly unusable anymore. Still rating 3 stars for several reasons: -I definitely used it at its max capacity for hours at a time and pushed it harder than it was probably designed for. -I was able to make (albeit slowly) several pairs of wood (ear) gauges out of hardwood. Overall: It's fun and interesting to mess with but if your planning to really use this for anything of purpose or significance, don't bother. ... show more

  • Lathe - 5 star / Amazon + Seller - no stars
Size: 16" x 40"-1.5 HP
Ordered and was given an expected delivery date that came and went. Asked Amazon and they had no clue. Finally went to the shipper (External Shipper) and gave them my order number. The process, which Amazon and the seller did not tell me (and I don't believe they knew, at least not enough to track it down) was that the customer needs to go to the shipper and schedule a delivery. No issues, but would have been nice to know. Lathe came crated and undamaged. Unboxed it and put it together and started using it. Positive: Speed dial (no pulleys or belts to move); ruggedness/durability; Quality Negative: Amazon/seller responsiveness; Face plate is warped right out of the box I would buy this product again ... show more

  • I use this to polish inlay rings and it's a champ.
Size: 2.76 in x 6.3 in
I make inlay rings and this lathe is perfect for that. I can not speak to using it as a wood turning lathe but it is not super powerful so you need to know how to use a lesser powered machine to not destroy it in a half hour like i saw someone else review. I would totally put that on the user just over working the machine. It has multiple speeds but i only need to use the slowest one as it is fast enough for what i'm doing and it works well. Its pretty straight forward and seems to be built strong enough for what it is intended to be used for. If i have to i would buy another because the price and quality is right. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
Size: 2.76 in x 6.3 in
We bought this lathe as a Christmas gift for our teenaged son thinking it would be an opportunity for him to try his hand at wood turning before committing to a larger investment. While he was excited to receive it, the quality was poor and the screw that was supposed to hold the wood instead stripped the wood, rendering the product useless. It was a disappointment to feel that we wasted our money and caused frustration rather than joy. ... show more

  • I am pleased with the lathe
Size: 2.76 in x 6.3 in
The motor is powerful, and the speed adjuster works well. The tool rest is inadequate. It is too narrow for longer parts. Also, the rear stock does not slide easily. Overall, I am pleased with the lathe.

  • VERY UNSAFE
Size: 2.76 in x 6.3 in
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!! Even at the lowest speed it is still to fast. The tailstock does not feel secure at all. I have been working with power tools all my life from small tools such as this to a drill press weighing 8000lbs. This thing is a accident waiting to happen.
