My PC Now Runs Much Cooler

I recently installed the V5 CPU Air Cooler in my Dell XPS 8940, and I wanted to share my feedback on its performance. The cooler fits perfectly as a replacement for the stock pancake unit. Installation was straightforward, with only minor difficulties attaching the fan cable to the motherboard and the fan clips to the cooler. The improvement in cooling is significant. Previously, my idle temperatures averaged 60-70°C, often reaching 100°C and causing thermal throttling or restarts during basic tasks like browsing or using Photoshop. With the V5 installed, my idle temperature is now approximately 32°C, and it has not exceeded 80°C under load. Additionally, the unit is quieter than the original stock cooler. Given the performance gains and the competitive price on Amazon, I highly recommend this upgrade.

First I'll get the bad out of the way since most negative reviews already cover it. The installation / mounting system is unrefined to put it lightly. The metal brackets that attach to the cooler itself are the main problem. I have seen others complain about the intel backplate, it seems pretty comparable to others at this price point, and the screw holes on it can be snapped into 3 positions. The biggest problem here is the sticky foam that holds it in place on the mobo is too thick, so the screw holes don't push up through the motherboard like they should without pressure on it. This in combination with the bracket issue I am about to describe make installation a struggle. The brackets do not have the snap feature, the spring screws just slide back and forth in a track that allows you to choose spacing. The problem with this is that even if you get one partially mounted, it can still slide around while you try to mount the others, so you find your self fighting with the position of the cooler (lubricated with thermal paste) to line all the screws up rather than being able to just slap the cooler down in the middle and go to work on the screws. It's just not friendly. I had to force the screws down into place wriggling my screwdriver back and forth until things lined up one at a time to make sure they would all catch the backplate. I would suggest starting with opposite corners to do this and just get them to "catch", don't tighten completely until you catch all 4 on the plate, then secure them in a standard cross pattern like you would a wheel. Having said all that, I was still able to pull my PC out from under my desk, take both panels off, remove the old cooler, install this one, and get the panels back on within 20 minutes, granted I have a cutout in my case to access the back of the mobo. It's just that if you aren't a seasoned tech like me, and don't have decent hand strength I can see this being a serious hassle. The icing on the cake is that there are not really instructions for attaching the fan, so some people might have trouble with that. ----------------------------------- Now that the installation is out of the way, let's talk about performance. I have an i5-9400f coming from a stock Intel cooler (I), to the Vetroo (V). All temps below were taken in a room ~21C. My case configuration pulls air into the front and side and exausts out the back. The fan on the cooler is configured to push air through it toward the back exhaust fan. Light office usage (browser, outlook, chat, vpn) I: 40-44C V: 33-35C Heavy gaming I: 72-75C V: 53-55C Stress testing I: 78-82C V: 57-58C Not only are the temps significantly better but also more consistent (likely a result of the bigger heatsync providing better thermal consistency). The fan is quieter than the stock cooler, which is to say I don't really notice it, at least not specifically. The only time the fan has to ramp up is while gaming, and typically the GPU gets hotter so the fans on that have to work harder anyway. ----------------------------------- The conclusion here is that the other reviews aren't wrong, the installation leaves a lot to be desired. If that's problematic for you, stay away. However, if you aren't the type that minds using a little elbow grease and dealing with mild frustration to save a few bucks, this product offers great performance for the price point once you have it mounted. Since reviews are subjective and I was vaguely aware of what I was getting into when I bought this (instead of a Noctua product), I have scored it accordingly based on cost + expectation vs outcome. 5/5

Review of - Vetroo V5 CPU Air Cooler w/ 5 Heat Pipes & 120mm PWM Fan - EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (2021-May Update) - still working superbly The Vetroo V5 CPU Air cooler is an amazing cooler sold at a competitive price! - As the product description and product photos illustrate the Vetroo V5 CPU Air cooler comes with a great fin stack around five (5) heat pipes, which is more heat pipes than similar products available on amazon. - COOLING PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN EXCELLENT As noted by several well known and reputable youtube computer product reviewers, the Vetroo V5 CPU cooler provides superb CPU cooling. When cooling a little AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, with tuning to run at 4,000mhz, the Vetroo V5 has been providing 31-35C idle temps and 43-50C CPU temps under load, as reported by both the Windows 10 "core temp" software utility, and the Windows 10 HWINFO64 software utility. - GREAT VALUE Since I was looking for cooling for a $99.00 (direct amazon price) AMD Ryzen 3 3200G CPU, or AMD Ryzen 5 3400G the availability of the Vetroo V5, on sale with a coupon, paired well economically with the CPU it is now cooling. - INSTALLATION WAS EASY It was valuable to do a tabletop "dry run" assembly before installing this cooler. The most important thing to get right is that the AMD AM4 brackets MUST be installed with the bracket angles ANGLED INWARD in order for the screws on the bracket to line up with the AMD motherboard backplate. It seems as though reviewers who complained that the Vetroo V5 did not fit their AM4 motherboards probably didn't have the mounting brackets attached in the right direction. Notably, the seller has included an illustration of this, with the brackets angled INWARD, within the product photos right on the amazon product page. The documentation doesn't clarify this however. Note also that it is NOT possible to install the cooler and tighten the brackets onto the AMD motherboard backplate with the fans attached, so attach the fans after installing the fin system. Having a "long neck" screwdriver is also helpful, to extend past the height of the fin stack while tightening the screws in succession. - Since I was doing a build already with NON rgb Arctic brand fans, I was able to set up this cooler with two Arctic P12 PWN non-rgb fans in "push/pull" configuration. However, according to the various youtube testing gurus, using two fans apparently does not significantly increase cooling efficiency even though push/pull fans produce a small efficiency increase. - SUGGESTIONS TO MANUFACTURER EVEN WITH THIS FIVE STAR REVIEW Vetroo should make a second version of the Vetroo V5 cooler that comes with two (2) fans. The Vetroo V5 does come with two (2) fan attachment brackets however. As a result, it is possible to install the Vetroo V5 cooler with "push" and "pull" air flow from two fans. Having an alternate version, even at a slightly higher price, would also be helpful because Vetroo does not currently have fans available for sale separately on amazon (or the Vetroo website) that match the fan provided with Vetroo V5. - CONCLUSION The Vetroo V5 CPU Air cooler provides performance which rivals fans that cost 2, 3, and 4, times as much as the Vetroo V5.

Improvement over the AMD Stock Cooler, hassle to install

Bought the white version for use on a Ryzen 7 3700x on a MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI AM4 ATX motherboard, Neo Qube ATX case (a copy of a Lian Li 011D XL). Compared to the AMD stock cooler: at ultra settings with full RTX on for Cyberpunk 2077, I was easily hitting 80C for CPU temp. With the Vetroo V5, I was hitting about 62C with the same settings (AMD says 80C-90C is typical for the 3700x under stress loads). Idle temps with the Vetroo V5 as I'm typing this are about 32C, 35% fan speed. It does come with thermal paste and they give you brackets so you can install it on either an Intel or AMD motherboard. The heatsink also pretty tall compared to the AMD stock cooler. Its height cut really close to touching my glass side panel but it managed to fit without touching/scratching it. In terms of clearance alongside the RAM sticks with the included fan clipped on the heatsink: It can cut pretty close. I have 4 ram slots to the right of my CPU but I'm only utilizing 2 slots [ x O x O, (O is slot used, x is empty)] and with the fan on either side, it fits no problem. If I had all 4 slots filled and the fan positioned on the same side as the RAM sticks, it would cut pretty close to touching the RAM sticks. I'd recommend holding it in place prior to screwing anything in just to see if clearance is an issue for you. Because the heatsink is taller/narrower, it might give some leeway for the fan to fit next to the RAM sticks and be no issues. I had a few gripes with the cooler: mainly pertaining to the installation. For the most part, the instructions they provide you are clear in how to install it for either Intel/AMD. For AMD motherboards, when you screw on the two metal brackets onto the heatsink, point the diamonds at the ends so that a majority of it is facing inwards TOWARD THE HEATSINK, NOT AWAY, and orient the coiled covered screws in the proper direction. If anything, I'd recommend aligning the two metal brackets themself with the CPU backplate (if your mobo has it) prior to screwing the brackets onto the heatsink itself. My mistake was mounting the brackets incorrectly so the screws didn't align in a perfect rectangle to the backplate (it was more like a parallelogram). This could be an issue specific to the design of my ATX case, but because my motherboard was positioned vertically for the installation process and gravity wants to pull the heatsink down, that became a problem for me. I could not position my case/motherboard down horizontally as I needed to hold the backplate in place to the back of my motherboard (my case itself could not prop up the backplate nor could I get my hand in a position to hold the plate if i set my case horizontally). Like imagine trying to assemble a sandwich in midair and the bread slices are standing vertically. The heatsink is the left bread slice, the backplate is the right bread slice and the motherboard/case is this gigantic ass piece of hard ham. The only way to hold them together is using toothpicks through the left side where the heatsink is. (I believe only AM4 motherboards have this backplate that detaches behind the CPU/mobo?) Anyways, after a small struggle, I was able to sandwich the heatsink/mobo/backplate together just so the screws slotted onto the top of the backplate, then tilt my case moreso on its side to actually start screwing it together. In addition, because the screws that tighten to the motherboard sit so close to the heatsink, I had to use my screwdriver at an angle instead of just having it straight down. I was afraid of stripping the screw, but it felt like the grooves were big enough so I was able to tighten it a fair amount so it fit securely and not strip the screws. Overall and despite my long rant about the annoying installation issues, I'm satisfied, especially considering price to performance ratio. Noise level is minimal/quieter than the AMD stock cooler even at higher fan speeds. Aesthetics with RGB fan is fine to me and the CPU is running at a lower temperature which was the main thing I cared about. All at a decent price and I couldn't ask for more personally. It's akin assembling IKEA furniture. It might be a bitch to put together but if the end result provides functionality and aesthetics of it, then you may be fine going through the hassle if it is one.

Performs well above its' price point

I've been building custom gaming computers for a number of years, from air coolers, TEC coolers, custom water loops, AIO's, etc. This cooler performs better than many cooling solutions costing many times more. Installation is very simple, the fan is next to silent. I have installed this cooler in a number of budget gaming machines lately. One example is a Dell Optiplex 9020 that I upgraded to a i7 4790K CPU, I originally had a Thermaltake 7-bladed 92mm air cooler which usually does an OK job. In this case it couldn't handle the i7 4790K with temps reaching up to 98c running Cinebench causing me to have to stop the benchmark early. I installed a 140mm Noctua front case fan which dropped the temps down to 87c max in Cinebench. Not impressed by this I decided to give this cooler a try (Thanks JayzTwoCents), This is my go to cooler now. Period, not my go to for the money for budget builds, no it's my go to cooler. That i7 4790K now maxes out at 54c running the very same Cinebench stress test in the very same computer that at one point with the previous cooler maxed out at 98c. I am putting together the final touches on another Optiplx 9020 that has a i7 4770 with my running benchmarks on it as I type this, the max temp in Cinebench on that computer is 51c (previous max temps were 89c), idle temps dropped from 47c (using the same 7 blade Thermaltake cooler I mentioned earlier) to idle temps of 23c. I originally was planning on swapping out the OEM fan it comes with & use two 120mm Noctua PWM fans in a push pull configuration but I can say that that's not needed. I was also going to throw away the thermal paste it came with & use some of the more expensive stuff that I usually use (Thermal Grizzly) but again the provided paste is excellent. I am not sure how this company is able to provide such a quality product that can stand toe to toe with Noctua coolers (I have Noctua coolers in some of my other builds) at a fraction of the cost but I really appreciate this cooler. If you can fit a 120mm air cooler in your case, I would highly recommend this cooler.

The Vetroo V5 CPU Air Cooler is an excellent option for anyone looking for effective cooling and a bit of RGB flair. With 5 heat pipes and a 120mm fan, this cooler keeps my CPU temperatures impressively low, even during heavy gaming and multitasking sessions. The fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) PWM fan runs quietly and adjusts speed smoothly, so it’s not disruptive during use. Installation was straightforward, and the cooler is compatible with both Intel and AMD sockets, including the latest LGA 1700 and AM5, which is a huge plus for future-proofing. The addressable RGB lights sync perfectly with my other components and add a great aesthetic to my build. The only minor note is that it takes up a bit of space in the case, so double-check your clearance if you're working with a smaller build. Very Good Budget Cooler

I've had my (prebuilt) PC since 2018 and the old liquid cooler finally crapped out on me. I know next to nothing about upgrading computers or replacing parts. It was very easy to install, the instructions were clear, I loved the way the fan just snapped on with the clips instead of needing to screw it on. The only thing that was a little fiddly for me was the RGB power, which I ended up leaving off because I didn't want to break something. It fits my tower, no issues getting it next to the RAM. Definitely a good option if you have a midsize tower. It's been holding great temps at idle and have maintained those during gaming - HSR and DRG both kept below 50C. I can't give any long term reviews since I just installed it today, but for a first timer trying to keep my old goblin machine going, I found this to be a great experience. I recommend having one of those extra long screwdrivers if you have one because big hands might struggle, and having an extra pair of hands to hold the bracket on the back is helpful but I managed it on my own all the same.

My boyfriend and I both built PCs with near identical builds. I have slightly more RGB, a larger power supply and a more expensive motherboard: but we had the same CPU and CPU cooler. The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with the stock cooler. From the very beginning my CPU ran hot. So hot, that my friend who built PCs for awhile had me stop running the 3DMark Benchmark test within a minute because my CPU temp spiked to 95 constantly: not even reaching the CPU stress test. I'm not sure why, but my boyfriends CPU had better temps than me. I read online that the CPU runs a little hotter than others and intel especially however my CPU temp could easily reach the 90s which made me feel uncomfortable. When playing random games like The Isle my temps would steadily be at 85-95 which made me panic buy a new cooler. I finally went out and bought this. My temps are now CONSIDERABLY cooler. I mean 20-30 degrees cooler. My CPU temps are cooler than my boyfriends who is still running the stock CPU fan. I'm not sure if theres quality control issues with AMD fans or what but if you are worrying about your CPU temps.... get a better fan than the stock fan.... and GET THIS ONE! I of course came here because of JayzTwoCents as well and I’m so glad I trusted him the other reviews here. It’s the perfect length width and height. It looks good without looking massive and obnoxiously sticks out. I also really wanted a white one for my build which is apparently near impossible to find on Newegg etc. (Personally I didn’t want anymore RGB in my case so I left the RGB unplugged for my build.) TLDR: My CPU temps used to run 65-75 on idle/low and now run 55-65. But on a higher game it would easily run 85-95 constantly which made me fear for my PC and now it runs at 65-75 on stress. That’s a whopping 20 degree difference! I am so happy with this cooler! Notes: it comes with both AMD and Intel mounting brackets and instructions. Googling how to put a fan onto the heat sink saved my life. Is it louder than the stock AMD fan? Yes. But not by much. So much that I was looking around the room trying to figure out what that new noise was before realizing it was my new CPU fan. But if for some weird reason you are expecting a dead quite zero noise from a fan then good luck. But I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near being loud at all. Replacing your cooler/cleaning and replacing thermal paste isn’t as scary as it sounds to be.
