I got the 18in frame and wow it was much taller than expected once I put my mattress on. It was easy to assemble and my dog loves his new cave. That was not the original plan but it works well for storage and enough space for him to hideout. I ran LED lights all underneath which looms pretty cool!

    • Solid and easy assembly
I set this 14-inch King platform bed frame up yesterday. I didn't time myself, but I guess it took under an hour. The instructions could be better, but they weren't bad. It's mostly picture based (saves on translation, I suppose). Parts are labeled to make referencing easier. A few things could make set up a little easier and the instructions better: 1. Multiple types of fasteners are in a bag with multiple labels, e.g., "a, b, c," so you have to reference the inventory list to ensure which letter corresponds to which fastener. Not a big deal, but it's one extra step. 2. Fasteners are labeled in lower case with braces capitalized. That just seemed odd, instead of using unique letters, because you have to say, "give me 'lower case a'" instead of just "give me 'A'". Again, not a big deal. 3. One brace was mislabeled, but it was still obvious where it went. 4. One major step wasn't even mentioned in the instructions, i.e., putting the caps on the lateral support braces, but it's easy to figure out anyway. When it's all finished, it's a solid frame, and there's enough friction with the lateral braces that the mattress stays in place pretty well, although I haven't been using it long yet to say that with confidence. One recommendation I have is to follow the big bold statement on the top of each page that tells you not to tighten any of the screws until you have it fully assembled. Luckily, I knew to do this already, because you need the wiggle room to fit screws through their respective holes. Once the whole frame is assembled, it's easy enough to go around and tighten everything up. Also, invest in a Allen bit for a cordless drill (not on max torque), which will make things much MUCH faster. ... show more

    • Simple all-steel bed frame.
As mattresses get lighter but also sturdier, the need for box springs and other bed underlayment has begun to decrease. Nowadays, with a good layered foam mattress all you need is a sturdy bed frame to lay it on and you will be completely comfortable. As long as you have support throughout the area of the mattress from underneath, you do not need to buy an expensive clunky box spring anything further. This frame will provide just that, and does so with many well-placed steel slats that go horizontally to provide support to the mattress. The rest of the bed frame is constructed of similar steel, and it forms a uniquely simple frame to keep your bed off the ground. There is no headboard or any other vertical aspect above the level of the platform itself, but the simplicity of the steel frame means you can mount a headboard to it with a few creative adjustments. Overall it is extremely simple but also sturdy. And it also assembles quickly and logically. It is heavy but actually not as heavy as it would look, some of the steel is hollow in areas and is well designed to maximize its weight-bearing ability. It is not too high off the ground but you can easily get in and out of the bed without too much crouching or pulling yourself up too much. This also allows for under bed storage which is a great space saver for an otherwise under-utilized space in your home. I had got this to use in a guest room but after two weeks took it down. I ended up getting a different frame and here is why. I found that after about a week of use and the dogs playing on it the frame started to squeak and crackle. It's hard to sleep on a bed that every time you move or roll over it makes noise, maybe it was just my unit I am not sure but retired it and went a different way. 3 stars ... show more

You unfold the two sides, bolt them together, put your mattress on and it disappears. I put a bed skirt on mine because there is so much storage space underneath for items I want to hide. No need for a box spring. Very happy with this purchase

    • Great, simple instructions
For a King-Size bed frame, this was extremely easy to assemble -- thanks mostly to the clear and simple instruction set. The pictures were clear, large enough to see, and make out the important details, and there were no hidden details (you know, like when a part has holes that are not shown, and you don't know which way to face the part, but if all the holes were shown, it would be easy to get it right the first time!) -- none of that with this project. The frame is good and solid, with slats to support the mattress every 8 inches or so. Good strong frame with heavy-duty 1/4-inch bolts and locknuts so they won't wiggle loose with age. The weakest point of the entire project is the plastic guides that hold the slats in place (it uses ten of these, and they provided 2 extra to replace the first two that break, which will probably take a while, and may never happen at all). The only thing lacking with this bed frame is: there is no "lip" built in to keep the mattress centered on the frame. Our last bed had this, and now that we have a frame without it, in just one night we realize how much we will miss that "lip". My wife is shorter than I am, and when she gets in the bed, she pushes against the mattress, and the mattress moves toward my side of the bed. Doing this a few times makes the mattress hang over the frame on my side of the bed by up to 6 inches! Very annoying! This lack of a lip is the only reason this bed frame did not earn a 5 star rating with me! ... show more
