I love this product! It does expand with water and gives plant a natural place to grow roots. The only problem is that, we use it for pots and so we can’t really make it all because we live in apartments so space is limited. So our solution, I get why you would laugh, is a screwdriver and a knife πŸ˜…. We stab it with the screwdriver to get the little chunks, and then come in with the knife to get anything else. Order came quickly and packaged well. I bought the 10lb block to add some moisture retention for my raised bed gardens. Placed it in a large garbage can with water after unwrapping it and wowza it expanded and boy is it heavy when wet.. Time will tell if this helps retain moisture in my raised bed but so far I am very pleased and worn out from how heavy this stuff gets when wet, but it incorporated well in the soil mix I had.
