Description

Designed specifically for the Venta Airwasher, the Venta Water Treatment Additive improves the performance of the unit by preventing mineral deposits. Our Water Treatment Additive (WTA) is specially formulated to maintain hygienic conditions in the Lower Housing of your Venta Airwasher by preventing calcium and lime build up. This WTA creates a sheeting action on the Disc Stack to maximize the surface area coated in water, which aids in the evaporation process. There is no need to add Venta Water Treatment Additive to your Airwasher each time you add water, as the ingredients do not evaporate. Simply add Venta WTA to your Airwasher every 10 to 14 days.

  • Helps prevent and control calcium deposits
We have forced hot air heating which tends to dry out the air in the winter. Without Venta aiwasher I wake up with a sore throat due to dryness, with Venta airwasher my throat feels fine. I use tap water in the airwasher and we have hard water from a well. I use water treatment as it was recommended for the proper running of the humidifier to prevent formation of calcium deposits on the walls and in the turbines. I see sediment on the bottom of the tank and rinse it every 2 weeks. For cleaning of the tank I use Simple Green cleaner (one gallon concentrated solution is pretty economical). One thing I was not sure about before I got the big 35 oz bottle of the solution for the first time is how I was going to measure out the right amount of the solution for each application. Once I got the bottle I saw that the label has lines that show the amount to use each time. Each dose is 3.4 oz and should be added to water every 10 to 14 days. There are 11 doses according to the marking, which works out to about 6 months. If you humidify for less than 6 months a year the bottle can last more than one season. However the shelf life of the product is marked this way: storage life is 30 months if not opened, and 12 months after opening. I am not sure 12 months a real shelf like or is Venta trying to make an annual sale to each customer. Note that this water treatment is not a replacement for Venta Airwasher Cleaner (8.5 oz) which needs to be used once a year before I store the unit for the summer when we don't use it. Venta airwasher water treatment contains: water, quatemary ammonium chlorides and water softening agent. Ali Julia review ... show more

  • This really works
We have very hard water, so it can be a problem for humidifiers, which we discovered with a type that uses mist, white powder accumulated on our surfaces. This product works with an evaporative Venta humidifier. The calcium stays in the reservoir as a sort of gel. Much easier to clean, and no white powder in our environment. ... show more

  • Part of the routine maintenance for your Venta air washer and humidifier!
I am using an LW45 model of the Venta humidifier. Every day I have to add about 1 ½ to 2 gallons of tap water into the unit. You do need treat the water with the Venta Airwasher water treatment additive and it takes 3.5 ounces of this liquid to treat the 3 gallons of water that the unit holds. You only add the treatment every 10 to 14 days and then you should dump the water and then clean the unit, refill it with three gallons of fresh water and add in the water treatment. The unit comes with enough of the treatment liquid to last you about 4 weeks. I ordered this bottle to maintain the unit in top operating condition. It is 35 ounces so it is enough for 10 treatments or about 20 weeks. I just set my smart phone to trip an alarm for me to clean the unit, change the water and add in the required 3.5 ounces of the water treatment additive. I remove the water wheels and rinse them with fresh water. I wash out the humidifier tub. I clean the fan assembly. I refill the unit with 3 gallons of fresh tap water and then I add in this solution. It really is simple and easy. The cleaning fluid does the following things: * It helps to maintain a hygienic environment * It improves the evaporation process by making the water cling to the wheels drawing more water out of the reservoir to allow it to evaporate * It prevents calcium deposits * It prevents unpleasant orders The front bottle label has graduations on it for every 3.5 ounces that you need to use. This is a good product and it works well and I rated it at 5 stars. I like the humidifying unit and I like that this cleaning solution does a good job keeping it fresh and clean. ... show more

  • Try dish detergent and vinegar
I've owned Venta Airwashers in each room for a decade. This season the water treatment was out of stock when I needed it. After a comprehensive and frustrating web search, I settled on a few squirts of (hand) dish detergent and a quarter cup of white vinegar, in place of regular use of Venta water treatment and annual use of Venta cleaner. So far, I have found this to be a superior alternative, regardless of cost. Venta offers various rationales for their additives, to take our minds off the possibility that we've bought into a razor-and-blades, spoon-and-coke business model. The water needs to form a film to properly evaporate; a bit of soap takes care of that. Sediment build-up? I've always had to take an old toothbrush to the "gear" portion of the spinning disk arrays, to clean off brown gunk each time I change the water. I live in a dirty city with complicated water; your results may vary, but a purpose of the Venta Airwasher is to trap gunk in the air itself; this need for cleaning is proof that the airwasher is working. I always used to dread this step (far more than paying for additives). The brown gunk comes off far more easily, with my homemade solution, and I see no need to ever buy Venta cleaner again. Ideally, any water treatment should double as a cleaner, removing the need for a separate cleaning product. Mine passes this test; their's does not. Also, the water needs to not go "off" between changes. In principle, dish soap alone can't be counted on here; ever smell a wet sponge that went too long in kitchen service? On the other hand, that sponge is exposed to food, while there is no natural food source in the Venta water. Nevertheless, one might have to discard the Venta Airwasher after one incident of smelling like a forgotten gym bag, so I proceed with caution. pH follows a logarithmic scale, like light or earthquakes, and it takes very little to make water too acidic for most life forms. I can barely smell a quarter cup of white vinegar, and only at first. The vinegar is likely to be playing a crucial role in the "self cleaning" nature of my solution, and I see no signs of damage from the acidity, so I continue to use it. Also, my units are old enough to develop a "squeak" once per revolution when the water gets low. I don't like waking up to this. I've heard no squeak since changing to this homebrew solution. I have no idea why, but I'll take it. So I'm entirely happy with this homebrew solution. One should be wary of placebo effects using a Venta Airwasher: I have expensive humidity indicators, and I need to block exhausts in my apartment, and perhaps kickstart with a pot of boiling water, to get measurable humidities from a large unit every 400 square feet. At best, I see 30% humidity, which is nevertheless much healthier than 15% humidity. I have friends in same scale apartments relying on smaller Venta Airwashers, and I don't need to burst this bubble for them, but the placebo effect is a real concern here. So how am I doing? I need to fill each unit twice a day, good. My units are now easier to clean, good. The water doesn't go off, good. If everything else is a placebo effect, I'll take it. ... show more
