I almost returned this out of the box. I didn't like the velvet texture, and it looked a bit too small. But I decided I'd return it another day when i had time. Then I came home and figured I ought to give it one try before returning. This thing works. I've tried a lot of pillows, but nothing compares to this. It's not perfect and if something better came along, I'd like to know, and get it, but it is the most comfortable thing for keeping you upright in bed that I have experienced. Those weird floppy armrest are surprisingly well engineered for a therapeutic purpose. Even when I lay sideways, to use my iPad on my left or right, they prop up my ribs and are a good elbow rest. I normally avoid writing reviews, but wanted to support this company in hopes they make more products this effective.

I bought several different reading pillows and they all ended up squished and falling in the crack of the couch. Which left me being at weird angles and looking like I was being swallowed by my zoom backgrounds since I would start sitting straight up and almost laying down by the end of the day. This pillow chair gives enough height that I get the support I need and is made of sturdy material that can hold up to the black hole that is my couch, and the dog deciding that it’s great to crawl around my shoulders (she’s a German Shepard for context). I’m hoping that this will last for at least the school year but even if it lasts until Christmas break it will still be worth every penny.

Never completely expanded. BOTH seams are torn, and continue to split!! I am a senior with a bad back, and osteo. I canNOT fit in a box to return; this is LARGE and memory foam! NOW WHAT? I'm STUCK with an overpriced, overrated item? Pitiful...BEWARE!

I'm tiny, (102 lbs) so most back supports are too firm. This molded well into my body offering support and comfort for reading or lounging. My 200 lbs son tried it out and it didn't flatten out on him and still gave him support and comfort so I think it could suit the average person looking for medium support. The cover is soft and doesn't attract animal hair, somewhat easy to remove and put back on when washed and held its shape. (I hung it to dry) The memory foam didn't smell so I could use it right away!

The bottom line is that while the pillow is soft and fluffy and squishy, it offers almost no back support. I have to spend a lot of time in bed due to some old injuries. As a software developer, this means I'm spending a lot of time working on the laptop in bed. I was hoping for a better alternative than lying on my side (which eventually causes shoulder and arm pain), or just propping some pillows up against the wall behind me. So I bought this product to try it out. First, I should mention that the construction is... fine. Expect to be frustrated getting the arm rest cushions into the pockets made for them, but otherwise there are no serious flaws. No odors, either, which is always nice when the product is filled with foam. That being said, using this memory foam "chair" on a memory foam bed was almost an instant fail. Because the chair itself offers no back support (I thought from the picture it might have had a rigid insert or something -- no such luck), I have to prop it against the wall anyway. And then, when I sit up, my butt starts to slide forward until I'm either lying down again, or in a weird, sort of half-curled position while sitting -- which is even more painful than just lying down. I'm not sure if it's a fault in the design of the product (it really should have included a rigid back support of some kind), a fault of me (it sucks that I have to work in bed so much... but I do), or a fault of my memory foam mattress letting my butt slip out from under me, but the bottom line is that this item is no better than a couple of pillows, and considerably more bulky and expensive, and less effective in letting me get comfortable. I wanted to like it!

I frickin love this thing! Perfect support for reading in the bed or sitting up and watching TV. The side pockets are quite useful. It does have a slight smell when you first unpackage it but it goes away as you let it sit for the 48hrs as suggested by the company.
