  • Nice Space Saving, Multi-Use Cat Furniture for Smaller Cats
Color: Brown
This cat lounger with scratching posts and spinner rope balls offers a nice variety of activities without taking up much space. It’s especially well-suited for kittens and smaller cats, according to the seller. The height of the scratching posts and the length of the top lounger are ideal for cats under about 10 lbs. My larger cats prefer taller posts and longer lounging areas so they can fully stretch out, but a few of them still enjoyed batting at the spinning balls near the base. The rope-wrapped posts are great for exercising claws, and I really appreciate that the lounger includes a removable plush cushion. It’s easy to shake out for quick cleaning or toss in the washer when needed. I always wash cat beds on a gentle cycle and dry on low to help preserve the stitching and non-slip backing. This piece would work especially well placed in front of a low window for bird-watching, or at the foot of a bed, chair, or sofa. It can help smaller or arthritic cats climb up more easily, and may even redirect scratching away from furniture. A little catnip on the base, bed, and sisal posts helps encourage interest. Assembly was fairly straightforward, though my husband did have to backtrack after reversing the posts the first time. One tip: don’t fully tighten the screws until everything is lined up correctly. It makes adjustments much easier. I do appreciate that written instructions with diagrams were included. Overall, this is a nicely styled, space-saving piece of cat furniture with a good mix of lounging, scratching, and play. At around $32 at the time of ordering, it’s a reasonable price for kittens and smaller cats, just keep the size in mind if you have larger breeds. ... show more

  • an impressive balance of quality, engagement, and aesthetics in a compact design.

Veehoo Small Cat Tree, Cat Scratching Post with 17"x13" Wide Top Bed, 20.5" Sturdy Cats Tower with Natural Sisal Scratch Posts & Rotatable Balls for Small Spaces, Kittens Assembling the cat tree was a really easy, clear instructions and no extra tools needed. I got it together in under 20 minutes. I love the look of this little cat tree! It fits perfectly in the corner of my cat room at the rescue, blending seamlessly with the eclectic décor. The tree is incredibly soft! The kittens love napping there, as the cozy fabric makes them feel secure and comfortable. This cat tree encourages play with its rotatable balls, keeping the kittens entertained for hours. Since setting it up, they’ve become more active and curious, exploring every inch and climbing the scratching posts. The kitten are obsessed with the new tree! They eagerly plays on it and cuddle up for naps, which brings me joy as a cat rescue volunteer. Seeing them happy is all I want. The build quality is sturdy and reliable. The durable sisal scratching posts hold up well, and there's no wobbling, even when the kittens climb higher, giving me peace of mind. For the price, this cat tree is a great deal. It offers an impressive balance of quality, engagement, and aesthetics in a compact design. ... show more

  • Decent small print cat condo and scratcher combo
Color: Brown
The media could not be loaded. We’re still talking about assembly. I wouldn’t say the instructions are great, but they are not terrible either. It is more of a look at the pieces and go situation, and there are not enough parts to get overly confused. If I had one piece of advice, it would be to identify which screws are A, B, and C before you start. The silver screws go into the scratching post, and the black screws go into the metal post. The instructions have you assemble the red balls onto the black post first. It is important not to over tighten this step. You will need the bars to have a little flexibility when you fit them into the base and the top. The holes do not line up perfectly, so you will need to pull the metal rod slightly one way or the other. If you overtighten at the beginning, you will end up having to undo your work and backtrack. I put up a video showing this because it is easier to see than explain. As with most furniture, do not fully tighten any screws until the very end. You need that bit of give during assembly. This is not a huge scratching post or bed set. I included a photo of my 3 pound kitten on it, as well as my 13 pound cat who absolutely loves squeezing himself into tight spaces. Both of them seem very happy with it. It sits low to the ground, and I have not noticed any tipping issues at all, especially with kittens. But I will say it’s not heavy duty and if you have a big monster of a cat, it definitely could tip over if they came flying to jump at it. I think that’s pretty obvious in the photos that it’s not a big item. I would like to say this is only good for younger cats, but having six cats has taught me that cats decide for themselves what works. The footprint is small, which makes it easy to tuck into a corner or next to a bed. The cats can lounge on it, and it has the added bonus of scratcher balls. I have not caught anyone playing with the balls yet, but I suspect that will change once one of them discovers it. Overall, it is a decent scratcher. It is not top of the line, but it is also not bottom of the barrel. My main complaint is that one of the holes needed to be made slightly larger before the bolt would fit. You can tell it was heat sealed because it was black around the edge, but it was not opened enough during manufacturing. I had to fix it myself with scissors. That said, it was easy to do, so it is not a major issue. ... show more
