  • Solid product, but know what you are (not) getting
Style Name: Titanium Gray
I ordered this mainly to transport my double-stack 9mm pistol to and from the range, and to keep it locked up when it happens to NOT be in my bedside safe. I'm not going to comment on features, lock mechanism, water-resistance, and so on. Build quality seems quite good. The combination is easy to set, and capacitive touch is very nice. I'm happy to have a code-based electronic lock on my case. This review is just to let other people know where things might not be quite what you expect. The Amazon page is far too sketchy on information. When I ordered, I thought I was getting the "special edition" that included pluck foam and a lid organizer, but that wasn't the case. So after it arrived, I realized (my?) mistake and ordered the pluck foam and a carry handle. First of all, if you have a double-stack pistol, then the organizer tray that comes with the Lifepod 2.0 tray is going to be completely useless to you, because you can't fit both your firearm and the tray in the case at the same time. Now, they *could* have made the case just a wee bit thicker, but they didn't. (And they don't hide the fact, as long as you read the fine print. Single stack sub-compacts may fit.) Why don't they ship another variation for double-stack owners, that does away with the tray, and substitutes in some other more essential feature, like perhaps the organizer tray or the pluck foam? Additional marketing and support costs, maybe? I don't know, but I think they would be wise to consider it. Secondly, on the subject of the pluck foam (sold separately), know that you will receive two differently-sized pieces of foam. One size fits in the main compartment; the other is smaller and meant to fit in the tray organizer. This is hinted at in the product description... sort of. But it's not explicitly clear. I was honestly expecting two pieces of foam that fit in the main compartment, each of which was for the main compartment. Because sometimes you don't get the plucking right the first time, or maybe you'd want to switch your first foam out when you change out your case contents. It made little sense (to me) that they would make one foam for the main compartment and one for the organizer tray. But that's what they did. Maybe someone finds it useful. So my final impression is of a well-constructed case, but not getting quite what I expected, and having to spend extra for the features I actually want, and still wishing I had an extra piece of pluck foam. So the case is 5 stars, but I have to knock off 1 star for the company not managing my expectations in the way I have come to expect in this era of easy returns and ubiquitous product reviews. They've got a nice glossy website; they should be able to do better. But the case does seem solid. ... show more

Know your use case! This isn't going to be your end-all be-all of portable safes. There are larger volume, and less expensive options out there, but you need to understand your use case to determine what you'll be happy with. Personally, I wanted a portable safe that is lighter weight, water resistant, and packable. I wasn't going to get that in a Hornady, Pelican, or coded nightstand safe - this bridges the gap off the 3. Like many others, I was expecting just a tiny bit more in the capacity, and depending on setup the tray is often useless and most of the foam is left out. BUT I didn't get it for that, I knew my use case. Still I kind of wish they'd ditch the tray and just include the lid organizer instead. Improvements I'd like to see for the 3.0? 1. Single latch system. 2. Add .5 inches to the depth. 3. Better light. 3. Include a handle in the package/design. 4. Add the "smart key" ability. 5. "Stippled" grip option on the back. 6. Built in retractable cable (manual to avoid mech. failure) 7. Swappable & Rechargeable battery option. 8. Swappable design lid cover plates. ... show more

  • Could cost you your life
Style Name: Guard Red
I got this and it fit my loaded Sig p320 and 4 mags, was easy to unlock and was very portable. Sounds great? Well I thought so too until I tried to unlock it after it was in my trunk for only an hour. The electronic keypad loses all functionality if it gets even a little warm (it was only 90F in my trunk, I checked). This means it isn't very viable as a portable lockbox anywhere that gets sun. ... show more

  • Good First Impressions
Style Name: Covert Black
Out of the box it is very impressive. I bought this safe as a bedside safe that could go in my car when traveling. Based on the size I would NOT want to travel with this thing on foot unless it was in a suitcase from hotel room to hotel room. It is not heavy but very bulky to consider using it in a backpack without without dedicating the majority of the pack to this safe. Currently I have it kitted out to hold a G19-Gen 5 with TLR7 and RMR along side a kywi double magazine holster. If I skipped the mag holster, I could fit the tray in place, but the belt clips add too much thickness. Without the Kywi loose mags fit easily on top of the tray with the subcompact in the lower level. For fun I test fit a full Sig 226 (no attachments) next to my G19 and it barely fits. If the Sig had anything on it or I ran a bigger light it wouldn't fit. I really like the tray and how modular it is. As a bedside safe I won’t be using the tray but will if used for travel. ... show more

  • Can't use the accessories tray with the double-stack handgun.
Style Name: Olive Drab
I have the original LifePod and pretty happy with it. I was excited for the bigger version to store a large gun along with my EDC gear. But unfortunately, the accessories tray won’t fit above the Sphinx SDP Compact. And its magazines won't fit well on the top of the tray either. I have not tried any other double-stack handguns, but assume that most carry guns won’t feet. It's pretty disappointing considering I purchased this product to store both the gun and the EDC gear, not one or the other. Other than that, the case is just a large version of the original LifePod. ... show more

  • Not everything included
Style Name: Covert Black
It seems like it will work well for what I need, but mine didn’t come with a security cable so anyone could take it without any issue. I would give 4 stars if it came with everything it was supposed to. I messaged them and haven’t gotten a response in 2 weeks

  • Less then enthused, but not completely dissatisfied
Style Name: Olive Drab
(TL;DR - Double stacks too big for accessory tray and extra mags.) If you're going to buy this, do not buy the deluxe addition if you have a Glock 19. Even though it's the 2.0 and it's larger, you cannot fit the tray in with extra mags. It was pointless to get the extra accessories when you can't use them. I have the pluck foam and one thin layer of foam below (to protect your pistol from rubbing on the case) that it came with. All in all, it's nicely constructed, but it doesn't like Glocks bulky brick like design. I'll see if I can fit another firearm inside, but I have a feeling it will be the same issue if it's a double stack. ... show more
