Size is just right for a mid compact with light, 2 mags, box of shells, and various small items. The insert is solid so if you want it form fitting you have to cut it out (these models are not pluck and pull). If so, you'll want to flip the insert upside-down and trace. Then use a couple new razor blades to cut. I have several vaults and they of great quality for the investment. The main thing that people complain about, but not me, is the handle is fixed (does not fold down). I like this as an extra bumper.

Cutting out the foam was the hardest part. Just go slowly and use a sharp blade and even that is not too hard. If I had to look for something to complain about, it would be that it really should have (IMHO) built-in locks, or come with some. There should at the very least be a recommendation on some decent locks (i.e. not Masterlock) to use with it. After lots of web browsing I ordered a set of three ABUS 64TI/40 Titalium Aluminum Alloy Padlocks. They seem to have a good reputation as locks, and were (according to the Internet) the right size. Well, the articles that mentioned them did say that they were a nice snug fit, with no play so that they didn't move around and make a noise ... no kidding! They fit VERY tightly. Good, because it makes it impossible to get a knife/hacksaw blade under the lid, but bad in that they fit at an angle ... which is ok ... just looks a bit odd. Other than that pretty solid. Good buy.

A great value. Very smart box for securing and transporting by vehicle or plane. The only negative to me is the hinges. Even though they’re sturdy, you could pry them open with a tool. Maybe if there were two more holes in the back that you could put a lock or a cable through then you’d have a seriously secure box. But for the price you can’t beat this. Solid construction. Great buckles. Tough handle. Nice foam inserts. Even though its rated for one gun I keep two guns (M&P9, Hellcat) and four mags in it and cable lock it on the back of my dirt bike or to the seat frame in my car

If you were traveling and you need to work something out, this is a great box to do so. I highly recommend it, easy to carve the foam so you can insert whatever precious items you have such as camera gear, etc. Very sturdy and durable and allows you to put two locks on it.

This little box was perfect and made travels to and from an absolute ease. Highly recommended. It’s the smallest one they make. I also have the largest one they make and it to has made traveling easier with larger items that need securing. Also highly recommended.

Fits a full-sized pistol easily. XD-9 Service Model plus 2 magazines went in no problem. Must have 2 locks to secure it. With only one lock on, you can easily torque the lid and get things out. There's got to be a better way than that. I was able to cut the foam, but not very neatly. I recommend using a razor to make it cleaner than my first attempt here. Very heavy duty, sturdy and stout, I'm happy with it for the price.

I purchased this case for my Sat. Phone and accessories. I have a Qualcomm 'GlobalStar' 1600 Tri-Mode Phone. Yeah, it's an older phone but it still works great! The phone with a battery attached, two extra batteries, charger, car cigarette lighter cable/charger and manual, all fit without any stuff rattling around. And of course it's a 'Pelican'. It's very sturdy, light weight and locks securely as well. Two thumbs up!!
