  • Love these sticks!
Style: Rock
Been using these sticks for quite a while now. I like the 2B diameter, and love the longer length! I'm pretty rough on them but they last for a bit. Might switch back over to the nylon tips as these wooden tips are chipping a little, with can damage your heads if you're not paying attention.

  • good wood. plain and simple
Style: Pro Rock
after experimenting with various brands of sticks during my fledgeling years as a drummer, i came across a (then) new stick from Vater. the claim was that it wouldn't break like competitors' sticks do. i tried a sample pair and after one week, bought a case. this was in 1991, and i have been playing Vater ever since. the unique thing about these sticks is, that they rarely split down the middle, lengthwise. rather, they begin to splinter, similar to an onion being peeled, layer by layer. for anyone who plays a lot of rim shots on their backbeat, as i do, this durability is something worth its weight in gold. sure, not every stick is for everyone, but the Vater proved itself to be the stick for me. and no, this is not a paid endorsement. i still buy my sticks like everyone else. this is the honest truth, based on 22 years of testing and proving. hope this review helps ... show more

  • too much vibration to the hands
Style: Session
I normally play Vic Firth 5A. Wanted to try these as an alternative that is slightly larger diameter and a little more weighted toward the tip. While these fit those criteria, they transmit a lot more vibration to my hands than what I am used to, so I will not purchase these again. But they seem to be well made, so I can appreciate others might like these depending on what the are used to. ... show more

Hard hitting sticks, good choice.

  • My favorite stick.
Style: Recording
Switched from the Los Angeles 5A to these. They just feel right when I use them. Grip is .560 with a 16 1/4" length. This is a touch longer and skinnier then the 5a. Try these if you are looking for a 5a alternative.

  • Great Sticks
Style: Pro Rock
I've been using Vater sticks for years. I like the Pro Rock sticks because they're a tad longer, so they give you a little more reach. If you've never used Vater, they're extremely durable and lost longer than any brand I've used. They have a denser feel than other sticks I've used like Vic Firth or ProMark. The surface of the stick also feels a little less grippy - you may want to wrap them. All around a great stick, highly recommended. ... show more

  • These are truly matched in balance and sonic characteristics
Style: Recording
These are truly matched in balance and sonic characteristics - they produce the best sound of any drumstricks I've ever used. Since I go through a pair a week, I will be reordering.

These are great for playing small rooms where volume is an issue. Great feel and consistent from pair to pair.
