Description

The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of boston's legendary Jack's drum Shop. There, Alan and Ron's grandfather jack Adams, hand turned drumsticks for the drummers like Buddy rich as early as 1956. In the early to mid 1980's, the Vater Brothers began producing private- label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. A few years of this LED to the brothers deciding to move their business to a new factory in Holbrook mA. Over the past decade, the Vater family and product line has expanded greatly, introducing innovative products such as the splash stick and acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers like Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh freeze. At Vater, our goal is simple...To produce the very best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

  • Great stick. Powerful, longer than normal, wide range of balance and control.
Great stick. At first it felt like a longer 5B with the weight of almost a 2B. It took me a while to get used to them and understand where best to grip depending on the situation, but it's not complicated. It makes perfect sense and is as heavy as it is balanced and controllable. When gripped right (slightly higher) it has an effortless feel and great bounce on any surface. Good for warming up or as a rock stick. Not recommended for very light playing mainly because of the sound (the feel is great but obviously bigger sticks have a fatter attack). It is what it is. If you play heavy music and still want definition and control without overworking, this is the stick for you. It is probably good for endurance so your hand doesn't take a toll with repetitive loud strokes. Also great for adding consistency to diddles since it was designed with precision as well as power in mind. ... show more

  • Quality stick!
These sticks are exactly what I’ve been looking for! The base feels like a 5A and yet the stick hits like a 5b. If you want to add some serious crack to your back beat. These sticks are for you! You can also choke up on the stick and get a softer hit. It’s a very well rounded stick!

  • Quality sticks/might need getting used to
I’m used to using Vic Firth sticks and wanted to try them out. It’s longer than normal and feels heavier/denser but it’s easy to get used to them after practicing with them for a while. The balance feels great even when slightly moving your fulcrum up or down. Speed is smooth also with finger technique these sticks have great rebound. 5 stars all around. ... show more

  • Wow.
One of the best sticks I've ever used so far.

  • Great sticks, but...
These sticks are great, the only ones I use, but vater's quality isn't what it used to be. Past few pairs I've ordered have arrived with cracks in the tips, they don't last near as long as they used to, they shred like cheap twigs easily.

  • Nice design and quality
When I first time hold these sticks, I was almost decided to return them. They are really big and strange :-). But once I tried them on the drumset, I found the advantage of the fat tip and top heaviness. It really makes a loud sound. The taper is much thicker and heavier which balanced the stick and I can adjust the position of my hand just about half inch to get different feeling and need between power and speed. I don't have to change sticks or flip sticks anymore. ... show more

  • Length a bit weird for me
These are decent sticks, but they are a bit longer than most sticks that I normally use, and that threw me off a bit. I'm honestly not really a fan of the extra length.

  • Great for heavy metal.
I like them because Mike Mangini used them during his time in Dream Theater. They are nice for playing heavy metal.
