My toddler had more books than space in his reading nook, so I decided to replace his little toy bin shelves thing (obviously not what it's actually called) with a shelf that would still work for him as he grew up. The final product of this shelf kind of blew me away. It is solid and sturdy. The bottom doors line up nicely, and they not only move easily, but also have an extra little push-click to secure when shut. It comes with wall anchors. No portion of these shelves seem flimsy. As you can see in the pictures, I can still add many more toys and books. I built this shelf by myself. I have quite a bit of experience building furniture and I wouldn't recommend doing it alone unless you do as well. Particularly, the backing for the bottom cabinet calls for 2 people to install as the holes are not pre-drilled and the backing slides easily. I got it done with a lot of patience and some Scotch tape that was carefully and gently removed. ***The wood grain can and will peel off if you don't know how to do this well.*** Overall, for the final product and the price I paid, I am very happy that I took a chance on this unit. ... show more

I put this together myself (67 year old grandma) in about 2 hours. Very nice piece of furniture. I have two 10 gallon fish tanks sitting on it.

    • Sixty screws - mostly hex

I almost assembled this today. I have one hex screw that isn't lining up. I'm writing this after hours of tedious and frustrating work. Even Xmas music did nothing to lift my spirits, as I put this together. I ran out and got a hex drill bit, because there are two different sizes and only one of the hex bit I own fit. I can't imagine doing this without a drill. Granted I'm a senior, but why waste any of my remaining time needlessly. The parts are all marked and ready do go. But so many parts! The instructions and well written with diagrams. But so many! Twenty two pages. I have four products from this manufacturer, with another piece on the way. I feel burnt out after this one. Tomorrow I'll try to get the last screw in. Hints: you don't need two people for the back part (no holes pre-drilled). You can tape down the sides so it doesn't move. I used a hammer a nail to begin the hole, then drilled the screws in. The last piece on the doors is retractable. I didn't understand that the diagram waz showing it. Good luck. Its sturdy. (Still needs the last screw for a shelf!) ... show more

It was very easy to assemble. It is exactly what I wanted when looking into the self. The only thing I would mark down is that there were several small chips and blemishes on the pieces of wood. Not noticeable from afar, but they are there. I would say it is worth the price!

Picture directions made it a can't mistake assembly. Extra piece in ea of the nuts/bolts in case lose or breakage made it less stressful as well as coordinating numbers on the parts baggies. Good sturdy feel. Beautiful piece
