  • Great for beginners
I have never used a sewing machine before but was interested in making my own curtains and throw pillows, etc. Intimidated by the machine I watched as least 15 YouTube videos while setting up. The machine started up easy enough. Even though I wasn’t clear on the the tension setting, it ran great! I kept to small pieces (being a beginner) therefore, I had to reset the string often. After 8-10 uses I hit a tangle that pulled hard enough to make the needle to move out of place. That was a two day ordeal, after I gave up my husband worked on it for another 8 hours. We came to the conclusion that the nut that holds the needle in place was defective, too short. I meant to order another but since the machine was working again, it slipped my mind. I worked on another 5 projects before I hit another tangle, it’s been collecting dust since then. I tried running PU leather through and think it was way to harsh for such a small machine. It does pack some power for it’s size! If you’re just starting out it’s very easy to get started with. If you have to travel it would be so easy to take. I like it a lot actually and would consider buying another if this one went kaput. ... show more

  • Perfect for small jobs
I am a travel nurse and I live in my camper while I work. This is perfect for small jobs like hemming and or fixing things on the go! I was able to easily make a pair of shorts out of a pair of jeans that I didn't need.

  • Super worth for its cost
Hi, first of all i will say this product is worth for its cost. This is light weight portable. Very useful. You can stich very easily. Even my 10 years old daughter is also learning on this. I always wants to buy the regular sewing machine. I rejected this one almost from 5 years. In india it is available for only 1100 to 1200 rupers may be some other Company (15 to 18 dollars). I dont have a good opinion on this because my mom has the regular one. So i thought for our indian heavy dresses it is not useful. After coming to USA i tried to get the regular one not portable one but because of the cost my husband told me first try this one. So now i can tell you definitely without any hesitation you can purchase this product for household purposes. It is really super worth. ... show more

  • Great machine to for simple sewing
This sewing machine is affordable and very compact, which makes it ideal for someone who wants to learn or dabble in sewing. If you plan on sewing large or many projects, then maybe consider getting a more expensive machine with all the bells and whistles. We bought this machine with the express purpose of learning how to make cloth facemasks, and it's been suitable for that. However, we do now wish for more features such as back-stitching, zig-zag stitching, and pressor adapters to sew along seams. But for the price, this is a good deal. Some tips for users: to back-stitch, leave the needle inserted in your fabric, lift the pressor foot, spin the fabric around 180deg, lower the pressor foot, and press the pedal. To start a new stitch, you may need to manually pull out ~10cm of top thread first by using your right hand to hold open the tensioner and your left hand to pull thread. This is annoying, and I wonder if more advanced machines allow you to start stitches without pulling out extra thread... ... show more

  • Simple, awesome, durable little machine
I adore this little guy! I don't have much experience with full-scale sewing machines. I had only used them growing up a few times under parental supervision. But, I had some projects I'd been thinking of (pillowcases, curtains, sewing up holes in clothes) and wanted to see if I could get into sewing, at least enough to get by. That said, I wasn't quite willing to blow a few hundred dollars for a potential hobby. So when I found this $30 baby machine, I was super excited - and it didn't disappoint. I think this little guy is perfect for anyone just getting into sewing, who doesn't want to commit to a full-size, more expensive piece of equipment just yet. Overall, it's a great size for a small apartment, it's easy to use/learn. Seriously, I opened it and sewed a pillowcase from a bolt of fabric without looking at the instructions once. That said, it comes with some thread already installed and ready to go, so as soon as I wanted to switch colors/put more thread in, I did have to go to the youtube tutorial to learn the basics - but the video is clear and simple enough to make the learning process quick. And hey, it's apparently durable enough/not so finicky that even a stumbling first time sewer who's allergic to reading directions can't mess the machine up too bad. Seriously, I'm shocked that I haven't broken it yet. Any time there's been a problem, when a thread's gotten stuck or something (no doubt due to user error) it's been obvious right away, and very easy to fix. Just keep going back to the youtube video when in doubt. Honestly, I've been shocked at the quality/durability of this product, given the size and the price. My machine now lives under my coffee table in my studio apartment for easy access, and I've already made: a pillow case, makeshift curtains (complete with a sewn-in pulley-string) a linen towel (just hemming edges), and have fixed a hole in a coat pocket and put adjustable straps/buckles on overalls (seriously, what kind of sick-twisted overalls don't come with buckles?). Best $30 product I've ever bought. I'm in love. ... show more
