I purchased the XL size for my 11yr old 60lb Australian Shepherd since it’s been very chilly inside the house and to give her a soft place to rest as well. I followed the instructions by letting the pad sit out overnight to let it expand. When you first take it out of the packaging, the pad is very flat (less than an inch thick). However, if you let it sit the pad will expand on its own. As you can see from my photo, the pad expanded to almost 3 inches overnight (not even a full 24hrs). I’m not sure if the pad would’ve expanded even more if I left it for 24-48hrs. But my dog couldn’t wait and she laid on top of it right away and fell asleep with no problem. She seems very happy and comfortable on this pad so it’s a keeper for me. ... show more

My dog loved this so much that she tore it to pieces that night it arrived so I would say that the durability is no match for a pitbull so would not recommend if you have this breed but the bed and material was very soft and cuddly just did not stand a chance against my 8 month old teething pitbull.

The first mat I bought was outstanding which made me want to purchase a second one for my growing pup. I received the second mat and it is definitely lower quality. It fits perfectly in the extra large metal crate. Gives him comfort and support. Design of cover is cute. Haven’t washed it yet but it was easy to clean a small spot. It opened great in 24 hours from the shipping compression.
