Features 5
- The Shifters is the first range in the new Eccentric Colours series, a selection of ready-to-use metallic acrylic airbrush colours. The Eccentric Colors multichromatic pigments used in the formulation of these colours give them an intense metallic tone enhanced by microcrystal-like particles that act as a refracting prism.
- Depending on the angle or the light reflected on the painted object, the colour will change in tone. The effect is optimally visualised in applications on curved substrates primed in gloss black.
- The Shifters range is aimed at fantasy and wargaming miniature painting enthusiasts. They are composed of bright and vivid shades, which facilitate an intuitive and structured painting method, allowing an easy and effective chromatic choice to achieve figures with perfect light and shadow in fantasy and board game environments.
- The Shifters range contains a selection of water-based acrylic metallic airbrush colours, which are therefore non-flammable and solvent-free. The bottles contain 17 ml./0.57 fl.oz. and have a eyedropper. It is important to shake well before use and apply in thin layers for the most spectacular effects.
- The set contains the following colours: 77.002 Light Violet/Green - 77.008 Green Gold/Cold Blue - 77.009 Turquoise/Violet - 77.010 Emerald Green/Mauve - 77.017 Green/Silver Blue - 77.018 Dark Green/Tin.
Description
The Shifters, the first range in new Eccentric color series, is a selection of ready to use metallic acrylic airbrush colors. The multichromatic Eccentric Colors pigments used in the formulation of these colors give them a vibrant metallic sparkle, while their glass-like coating acts like a refracting prism. Each flake presents a variety of color depending on the angle of view and incident light; the color shift effect is observable with both high and low- gloss applications and in a wide variety of lighting conditions and is intensified if the colors are applied on a curved surface, while best effects are obtained over a gloss black base color. Contents: 1 Light Violet Green 17ml 77002 1 Green Gold Cold Blue 17ml 77008 1 Turquoise Violet 17ml 77009 1 Emerald Green Mauve 17ml 77010 1 Green Silver Blue 17ml 77017 1 Dark Green Tin 17ml 77018.

Love this stuff. A lot of trial and error to achieve best effects.
Style: Space Dust
I've been using this a lot lately to add flair to small elements of my minis. The shades are all very unique and have a different effect based upon what they're painted on. Generally it seems lighter base coats will show more vibrantly, though I've used them to add cool glimmer to dark shades as well. The Electric Blue Intense Violet is especially amazing. I've used it a lot on top of lighting elements that are based with white and light blue first, it really makes it shimmer. I've also been trying the Bright Gold Brown on green-yellow magic elements and it shimmers really well. I did try a lot of different combinations on testers first to see how they combine, and it seems to dry a little slower so it's best to give it some time to really see the effect come through. Definitely have only scratched the surface, but I'm obsessed. Only downside I've had is that it's hard to really capture the glimmer in a photo, but it looks really cool as light moves over it.

Good effect, but difficult to use.
Style: Space Dust
This paint works as expected and has a unique color shifting (iridescent) effect. However the paint is difficult to apply by brush, and will require many, many coats in order to achieve the expected effect. In addition it's almost necessary to have a gloss-black undercoat for the effect to have a maximized intensity. I have had the greatest success by using these paints in an airbrush, with only using 1 drop of flow improver for 2-3 drops of paint. Even then, it will require many coats to get the best effect, and you will need a surprising amount of paint for a single model. If I was basecoating a 28mm humanoid with a color like red or blue, it would only require 1-2 drops of paint through an airbrush, but to get a solid iridescent effect using these paints you will require closer to 4-6 drops.

Amazing color shift for specific applications
Style: Space Dust
Excellent product as expected from Vallejo. Flow is similar to metallics so be careful not to over-thin, and MIX WELL. Critical to paint in the same direction in order to get the color-shift effect. I found it's also important to think about the direction of light and how you want it to shift. In my limited experience, you should paint with strokes roughly 90 degrees from the light source - all strokes the same direction. This will give you the proper effect as you rotate the mini side to side. If you paint your mini with vertical strokes, it won't catch the light properly and will seem dull. Base color effects outcome: These really pop when used over a dark base color. You'll still get the shift from lighter colors, but it will be less pronounced. Example: black primer shows overall color + shift more than white primer which takes on a pearl effect showing shift, but staying white. Note: Limited applications. Use this sparingly to give a specific area extra pop. It diminishes the effect when over-applied.

GLITTER!!!!
Style: Space Dust
First I bought one and ended up buying all the sets, second this isn't "Paint" it's a lightly tinted clear coat with a load of super fine mica glitter suspended, mostly permanently, inside it. The actual glitter isn't QUITE as nice as some other brands like TurboDork but the fact that Vallejo engineers their own paints means that it doesn't settle nearly as quickly as those other brands. Thickness wise the paint is closer to some of Vallejo's Model/Game Air airbrush paints than to their thicker traditional acrylics, this probably won't need thinning unless you are trying to push it through a .2 mm nozzle. If you are worried I can say these all come with mixing balls already in so don't fear the settling. The price is just right, just a few cents more expensive per bottle than the regular Vallejo at my local hobby store. and since the text box is begging me I'll say it cleans up pretty much like any other Vallejo top coat.

Awesome colors...
Style: Magic Dust
I like this paint. I spray it with an airbrush. I haven't had any problems with it sticking to surfaces as long as they are prepped correctly. The colors are awesome. They come with mixing balls. I do wish they came in bigger bottles with more paint and they are a little pricey. I would recommend overall...

Most importantly color
Style: Space Dust
Them black first! My husband paints his plastic blank fishing lures with this paint. And the color turns out amazing with both black and white undertone. But the black really catches the fish. We enjoy this paint product and find the application process to be simple.
