This is a nice alternative to a full-sized DAC. In this adapter, it is contained within the USB connector itself. That keeps the installation clean, and also makes it easy to move from device to device. I see this version especially useful for connecting to an audio mixer. I tested it on a Raspberry Pi running Linux and it was recognized as an audio device without any drivers or other software. Audio quality is very good, but as others have mentioned, the audio level is a little low. Not too low - but noticeably lower than my other audio sources. Build quality seems fine, but the USB connection is not snug and that makes me just a bit nervous about it falling out, though it hasn't yet. There's a lot of use cases for a cable like this, and at this price it is something I would be glad to have in my collection as the need arises. ... show more

I'm floored that this worked. When I first saw this, my immediate thought was... will this work from my laptop to the Bottlehead? And holy cow, it does work! And better is, there's no noise coming straight out of a Lenovo Legion 7 laptop... and that's into a Bottlehead! Windows 11 x64 immediately saw it as USB Audio and I'm still amazed. So what's the bad? Volume doesn't get loud on the BHC... I'm well beyond 2 o'clock on my dial running exclusive mode through the cable. USB isn't putting out as much voltage as RCA outs on a DAC, at least that's my guess. Also, the actual RCA connectors on the cable aren't tight... it's not like they'll pull themselves out, but they're definitely a little loose. Other than that, I have really no complaints at this price and convenience, considering I ran a 10 foot USB cable and didn't have any issues. The cable has a braid and it's very well made, but because of that braid, there are some microphonics. Really a non issue if the cable will stay in place. All in all, for audio enthusiasts on a budget or with a simple setup, this is a nice option to have. Could also be great for a secondary listening spot. Definitely worth a try, especially if you don't listen as loud as I like to. ... show more
