The adapter flickers occasionally, I verified the proper driver / restarted computer after connecting and it continues to flicker. It seems to flicker more when you play videos, not sure if it's video memory issue or not. Bought this to connect second monitor to my laptop which has only one HDMI port and it is close to VGA port. Either I can connect HDMI or VGA. This came as a rescue to connect usb 3 port to HDMI in the second monitor. Its been a month and it is working well without any issues.

when all else fails, read the directions! It is not pnp, and it takes a while to get the driver (had to circumvent the MS store safeguard) and load, but it works very well - I now have 2 independent monitors at HD, plus the laptop.

I ordered 2 cables and tested those on 3 different Windows machines running 10 and 11. I tested USB3 as well as on USB2 just in case. Neither of the 3 machines did recognize the device when plugged in to the USB ports. Nothing shown in device manager. Display not coming on. I am a senior systems consultant, not the average user. Plugged it into usb3 port on pc, It came up as a storage device. There were a couple of .exe files one for win XP, another for MacOS, another for Win10. McAfee scanned Win 10 OK. Ran the Win10 exe. It installed "MS USB Display" in C:\Program Files. Plugged in an old Dell monitor (E228WFP 1680 x 1050). rebooted. It then appeared in display settings and was able to extend desktop to it. This is with Win 10 Pro OS build 19041.1237 But, I was unable to set it to portrait mode - 1050 x 1680. Tried another monitor, looks like portrait mode is unsupported at any resolution.
