  • Looks good and works well... best mic for under $40
Looks good and works well.... for under $40. That is, it's the best of the under 40's. The pros: - Very good vocal sound quality: sounds like podcaster quality (lots of compliments from colleagues on Zoom if you use as a USB mic for virtual meetings - Nice looking mic, if a bit large for most deskscapes - Feels sturdy and well made (but remains to be seen how it holds up over time - writing this review after having the mic for one week) The cons - You have to have it right in front of your mouth for peak performance, so if you work at a stand up station, or want to move around, this mic is probably not for you. (I put mine in a tall vase so I can stand while using it - necessity is the mother of invention they say.) - I'm not a fan of the stand it comes with (or the fact that you HAVE to attach it to the stand). The legs open very wide and there is no way to make the footprint smaller. Unfortunately, you need the stand because the cord attaches at the bottom. They could have improved this a hundred times over by simply having the cord attach at the back - then the mic could stand on it's own and take up less space. (I created a workaround by bringing the cord up through the break-between-slats in my stand-up desk (see picture). Looks funny because the stand is folded away behind it, but this helps a bit to reduce the real estate this takes up in your workspace.) - Reducing the overall size by a third to a half would have made this a much better mic. - The on-screen controls only allow for volume adjustment; a few more options (bass. treble, etc) would have been ideal. ... show more

  • Uni-directional
So, unidirectional means that you do not have to be right on top of the mic for it to pick up your voice. I have used better ones, however they were "corded"....you know the standing in front of mic on a pole not usb, and those are $$$. For the possessed instagrammer's.....#@this price......buy it now!!! ... show more

  • Great deal for the money
I wasn't expecting much out of this microphone because it wasn't very expensive but after using it I can't imagine using anything else. I purchased this after I started working from home. My work laptop had poor sounding mic built-in and people would complain about the background noise on conference calls. I switched to using the Alvoxcon. Not only is the sound better for the calls but I've also been asked to do some voiceovers for client demos. The Alvoxcon is a great product at a great price. Details: Tripod - Fits well on my desk. A good height and very adjustable Microphone - Feels solid and sounds great. USB cord - Could be longer. I've also tried to play some online games with this microphone. The sound is much better than any headset I own. ... show more

  • Great compact mic with fantastic sound!
I was looking for a nice-looking compact microphone for audio production for my YouTube channel and Twitch stream. This mike first caught my eye mostly because of it's looks which I admit isn't generally the best way to buy a microphone LOL. Regardless of that I ordered it anyway and was pleasantly surprised on the high quality audio I was able to get out of this cool looking microphone. It has great range and with the USB connection connect to my PC very very easily. I plugged it in change my microphone input option and it worked like a charm great quality. It comes with a convenient little folding stand that makes it really easy to travel with it that's your style, but the Chrome metallic look of the microphone is very appealing. As soon as I order this microphone it ship shortly after came and very professional packaging, padded to make sure that it was very safe in transit and arrive quickly undamaged. I'm very happy with this microphone so far. I will update this review if I run into any issues or any other complications but as of right now it's fantastic. ... show more

  • Unusably quiet for my use cases, makes my DAW cry sometimes
So, if you tape it to your lips, it'll pick up your hardcore beatboxing perfectly with fairly clear response, but that's about it. Even after entering the sound section of the control panel in Windows and boosting the mic to its max, you still have to project to get any vocals into it if you're more than a hand-width away from it, and that's not what I expect a USB condenser to do. A condenser capsule should not be that desensitized, and that makes this unusable for anything beyond claustrophobic audio recording. But - that recording will come out pretty clear if you can get enough decibels into it. Given that you don't want a mic in your face for gaming if you're looking at something this, it's a hard pass for gamers. Additionally, I'm using Waveform 10 for music production, and this particular mic causes it some gnarly crashes that just don't happen with other hardware - notably when trying to set it as input with any other output selected. That implies this device isn't class compliant and has a need for better firmware for conversion to digital I'd personally steer you toward the Fifine or the Blue models near this price point instead. If you're looking at this mic for music work, beware how quiet it is as you'll need it very very close to your audio source, but the sound response is undeniably good for the price. For podcasting, if you're going solo or have one other person that you're happy to sit close to, this might do the trick - just keep in mind that it's very directional, so it won't work for a room or a group. ... show more

  • For now, its alright.
I bought this mic to be able to start doing future streams and for now its okay. i wont lie, i was slightly disappointed at the fact that the quality wasn't the same as the video reviews i've watched. but honestly for 30$ its what i get. for now i have no issues with the mic what so ever. the only complaint i have is the stand. its not really the best when balancing the mic but its not like fall every time. it just feels like with a single move i can end up knocking over my mic. but thats all. ... show more
