For video conferencing, this is fine out of the box. To use for videos you're going to want to do some tweaking in your software to get a decent sound. I'm pretty satisfied with it overall. I compared three popular lavalier mics available from Amazon - this Move, Maono, and a DeWise. The DeWise has a 1/8" plug so I used a Dukabel USB adapter. I do a podcast (two people with lavalier mics) and find that that lavaliers are a good choice for people like me who tend to move their head from side to side. My computer is a MacBook Pro. The Movo had a very strong signal - very strong. It will cause issues for many people. I had to turn down my input on the Midi and System Prefs to .143! The signal was a little muffled. Not a terrible signal, but a little lacking. The Maono seemed to have an easier to control signal. I set the input to between .6 and .7 depending on the person. It was plenty strong enough for any application. The signal was fairly balanced and clear. I personally liked the sound quality. The DeWise seemed to work well with a similar setting to the Maono (.6 - .7). The signal is fairly clear and has a reasonable sound quality. It has a bit more on the treble end of the frequency curve. That may work for you if needed. Another word on the DeWise - since it is a 1/8" plug be very careful if you plan to use it with a mixer. They left out a very important explanation. When using that kind of condenser mic, you will need phantom power. But (and that's a big But), you will need a transforming XLR adapter (Rode has a good one) that steps down the voltage to about 4 or 5 volts. If not, you may likely fry the mic. I preferred the sound quality and ease of use of the Maono over the other two. But currently, we are using both the Maono and DeWise together and they work well as an Aggregate mic set up. The Movo is a back-up at best, and we might return it. ... show more

I broke down and bought five different USB lapel microphones. Testing them myself was the only way to find the good ones. This particular one was the best by far. The sound quality is good, but compared to the other ones, the most important thing is gain. I tested this mic on a Mac and Linux. I am using it on a Raspberry Pi Zero W, which is set up as a wireless microphone. The sound quality is good, but also, the signal is loud and clear. On default settings, with it clipped to my shirt, the recording was loud and clear and didn't need to be boosted or cleaned up. It didn't fill the whole amplitude range in Audacity, but it didn't need to. This one is the best for capturing my voice. Only one of the other mics had good gain, and that one actually clipped and sounded overloaded. So, this one is the best. You need to have it clipped to your shirt for best results. This is good because it makes the background noise very low compared to your voice. ... show more

Other reviews have sufficiently covered the sound quality matter, so I won't try to do the same here, but I can speak to the service provided by the seller. I accidentally (physically) broke my lav mic and I reached out to them because I wanted info on how to repair it myself. I didn't get that info, but they were kind enough to replace the microphone even though my issue wasn't their fault. Oh, and in case you've come across this review because you're looking for a lav mic to pair with your HTC Vive headset (the first one), do note that the connector is too large (both in width thanks to the aluminum enclosure and in height once you factor in the strain relief on the cable) so you'll need a USB A male to USB A female extender to be able to use this mic with your headset. ... show more
