  • Great studio microphone especially for the price
I got this USB microphone for computer to recording, podcast. I've been using it for quite a while and with following comments, I bought it from Amazon's "our brand" microphone page. i think it's one of Amazon's microphone brand even it's new. I found the data first available is Dec.2020. I guess it's new lunch to market product in 2021. Another funny thing is that similar product specifications and accessories to My friend's microphone - Audio-Technica AT2020USB+. - mic control and volume control by different volume button design - Same specifications like cardioid polar pattern, Frequency response chat, sample rate to 16bit/48Khz., headphone jack to 3.5mm TRS. - Pivoting stand mount for 5/8"-27 threaded stands; 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter; soft protective pouch; tripod desk stand; 10' USB cable. Of course I've have the opportunity to test this Perrycom microphone and AT2020USB+ together with my friend. Running it through my fixtures, the levels are perfect and also forgiving. the result almost same like it's said. Finally, i can say "this seems to be the one to finally replace my previous favorite." I think the PROS are not only the quality but also the price. 1/3 cost comparison to the AT2020USB+ Undeniably, I chose it because of the low price at first, but the result surprised me. He is definitely worth it. I like it and I honestly don't understand that bad reviews. If you are someone who likes to recording, do podcast, or do voiceovers this USB microphone is absolutely great for those things especially for the price. ... show more

  • Pretty basic entry-level USB microphone
With everything moving online, and with it being easier than ever to make audio and video recordings, there is more demand for good sound quality. Hence you may be thinking of getting a USB microphone. The best microphones for voice recording tend to be condenser microphones, and having a USB one means you don't need a separate audio interface. Rather, you can just plug it into your computer. The pros of this microphone set is that it comes with its own stand and bag. The microphone is good looking. The stand is short, only lifting the microphone about two inches off the table, but it is enough to make it somewhat more usable. (You cannot use a microphone like this without a stand -- they are too sensitive and too large to hold in your hand while speaking.) Also, the microphone was very easy for me to set up. Once I plugged it into my MacBook, it was instantly recognized as an external mic. From there on, you can just power up QuickTime Player and hit "record audio file" or any other free recording software, and you're good to go. The manual recommends using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) but you do not need that to use this microphone. You can also use it for Zoom calls or anything else you do. Sadly, the main reason you would want this is to have better audio quality than your computer's built in-mic (if you have a built-in mic), and in my case this microphone is hardly better than my MacBook Pro's built-in microphone. I did several A/B tests to compare them. While this condenser USB microphone has slightly better base response, it is only marginally better than the internal mic for general voice recording. So if you're thinking of using this for podcasts or something where you want your voice to sound really nice, I would keep looking. Higher end condenser mic's will give you a better base response and the "proximity effect" if you speak close to them, making you sound like a really cool radio DJ. This will not do that. Another con is that if you want more flexibility regarding how the mic sits in front of you or your mouth, you will need a better stand anyway. If you do not have an internal mic, this USB microphone is going to be a lot more useful to you. It's a decent option if you're on a very tight budget, but you will might be upgrading to something better before long. ... show more

  • Decent (if pricey) for online meetings
We've all been doing a lot more Zoom meetings due to the pandemic, and as I re-arranged my home office setup, I wanted to try a microphone that wasn't the tiny one integrated into my laptop or the low-quality one in my external webcam. The stand makes it handy to sit atop my desk, and I can place it close enough to my speaker bar that I don't get those annoying teleconference feedback echoes. This microphone works OK for Zoom and other online videoconferencing. I tested it out on several platforms, and the audio quality seemed to be pretty good for voice. I have been meaning to try it out with my home audio studio (which consists mainly of a bunch of synths, a FocusRite Scarlett audio interface, and some basic DAW software on a laptop), but haven't had a chance to do a really in-depth dive as to the frequency response--I'll amend the review once I do have that chance, but given the price point, I'm not expecting professional results but would be pleased with any improvements over the analog condenser mic I currently use. Computer setup was straightforward on my Windows 10 system: It's indeed plug-and-play, and connecting it to an open USB port caused my computer to detect and install the appropriate drivers. The one issue I had is that it also installs a speaker for some reason--I don't know if that's for the headphone port or just a weird artifact (and I don't know where/why I'd use a headphone port on a stand microphone, FWIW; I'd use the monitor port on my DAW or the headphone port on my PC). I had to tweak a few settings in Zoom and my other videoconference apps as they initially defaulted to the mic's speaker device for audio out, but that was pretty easy--I just wish I could get it to completely go away: disabling it in Device Manager didn't remove it as an option, and deleting the device isn't a permanent solution. As for the accessories: The USB cable it comes with is plenty long (I think it's 9-10 feet), and it comes with an adapter for mounting to different stands (some use 3/8", while a lot of gear uses 5/8"); it was handy to have that and not need to spend an extra $5 or so on an adapter. I don't know that the bag is all that handy for my use cases, but others may get better use from it. the desk stand is handy for use for Zoom or the like. ... show more
