This worked as an OTG cable for my Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) with everything I threw at it, including an old USB mouse, USB flash drives, USB SD card reader, and a Logitec wireless mouse (M590) with a "unifying" dongle through a USB hub -- all worked instantly as if my tablet was a full-on notebook. And this adapter even handled tricker things such as an early 2000's USB gamepad. No driver install needed. AND this adapter started charging a USB battery pack (Anker 10,400 mAh). Yes, power from the tablet was charging the battery pack!     • Amazingly SLOW transfer speeds

These dongles are excruciatingly slow, I threw one in my bag of dongles (the life we lead!) and had a USB-3 drive I wanted to transfer data to while having coffee. It seemed very slow, in fact the time remaining was ~40 minutes for a few gigs. I let it run for a few minutes and the transfer continued at glacial speed. Not having that long on the parking meter, I cancelled the transfer, ejected the drive, checked the connections are tried again on a different USB-C port. Same result. I gave up and went home, where I was able to transfer the files (many files) in a couple of minutes. There is no reason why this dongle should be so slow compared to the Apple dongle I ended up using. It's supposed to be USB-C, but the speeds were not. I tried it with a different flash drive at home with the same result. It's just slow. The construction seems excellent externally, but clearly the internals do not match either due to a bad design or poor quality control. I did not reach out to the manufacturer because my time is worth more than this cost. So far I've already lost more in time spent than it cost. Would not buy again, and I regret buying it. Rating explanation: Overall 1 star because I can't give zero. Value of 1 because it's unusable for data transfers of reasonable size. Material quality of 1 because it's so slow, and that's a material issue of some sort. Durability of 3 because, even though I'm going to throw it away, it feels very robust and would work as a dedicated charging dongle, but why carry such an extra?? ... show more

I connected an external drive through this cable and it did not work (later I realized that all electronics had been fried, all my information is gone), then I connected a flash drive and it caught fire!!! This cable is EXTREMELY dangerous and should be withdrawn from sale immediately!

I purchased this so I could easily transfer pictures and videos from my phone to a usb drive. So far so good. This works great and came in a pack of 2 so I can do mine and my partners phones at the same time. Very useful while traveling.

    • Won't power an external DVD Drive on Macbook Air

So I got this to use with my new M1 Macbook Air which only has 2 USB C ports. I have some USB A items that I wanted to use with the new laptop. First thing I tried was my Fitbit charging cable. Worked like a charm. Next I tried using my LG external DVD drive. It didn't work. I tried it with my old laptop which has a USB A connection on it and the DVD player worked fine. Then I tried it with the old laptop using a USB C to USB A converter (Daisy chained together) and it worked fine. So I figured that it must be an issue with my Macbook Air not supplying enough power from the USB C ports. So I had another OTG cable laying around that I'd bought to use as a replacement for my Nintendo Switch dock as it has power in and an HDMI out on it... So I tried that device with power feeding to it and the external DVD drive worked fine with the Air. Then I unplugged the power from that device and tried again. Still worked. So it seems to be the case that somehow this JSAux OTG doesn't play nicely with the Late 2020 Macbook Air M1. Not sure if anyone else has had the same issue? BTW, since there are two cables supplied with this purchase, I did try both of them and neither worked with the Air... ... show more

This cable is beautiful quality. The narrow plug fits into my phone charger port without removing the rubberized case first. This isn't the case with some other OTG adapter designs.

For using a flash drive on my telephone, these are great. I am also using one as an adapter for a wired mouse on my laptop. The laptop had no more open USB A ports, so I use this to plug my mouse into the USB C port. The adapters I received have one slight difference between the two. On one adapter, if you lay the larger USB A end flat on a table, the USB C plug will be on its edge. The other adapter will have the USB C plug flat on the table, just like the USB A end. See the attached picture. This looks intentional, and while I can't immediately think of a benefit for this, maybe someone else can. The adapters feel like a high quality item with an aluminum cover on the ends, and a braided nylon sleeve over the cable. I don't think these will ever be abused, so they should last quite a while. ... show more
