  • It's a Bit Pricey, but it has EDID
This KVM switch requires 5V power input. It comes with a 5V USB power adapter and a USB cable with a barrel plug. It also comes with a wired remote, but I don't use it, because I can reach the buttons just fine. I also don't want another cable in front of the unit, because there's a mess of cables under my monitor already. The package includes the main unit, 4 USB male to male cables, wired remote and one HDMI cable. There's also the Power adapter and cable I mentioned earlier. The manual only lists its features and specs. The KVM switch is made of metal with mechanical switches. The buttons are small, but they feel good, with a tactile and audible click. The LEDs are small, and can be difficult to see, because I have a bunch of cables in front of the unit. I would have preferred the LEDs and buttons to be on top. As for build quality, all the components seem ordinary to me. The remote feels a bit cheap, and the power adapter feels lightweight and cheap too. However, the main unit feels heavy and sturdy, but that might be due to the metal case. It's not pretty, but it's solid. All the cables are the cheap variety you find on many other products. Nothing special about them. At 99 bucks, this KVM switch is a bit pricey, but it does feature EDID. My mini PC has problems booting correctly when the HDMI is disconnected, so this is a good feature to have. I can boot up the mini PC without having to switch over and wait. As for USB 3, I wonder if you really need the extra speed for the keyboard, mouse and printer. If you need both features, then this might be a good unit to consider, especially if it's on sale. ... show more

  • Works well with a minor quirk
The media could not be loaded. I have four systems I can switch between, so this looked perfect for me. This KVM allowed me to connect all of them to my single monitor. The video that comes out is crisp and clean. I am using a wireless mouse and keyboard with a dongle plugged into the front USB ports. It switches the dongle between systems as expected, with a small quirk that my previous KVM switch didn't have. I attached a video to this review mostly for the sound -- you can hear the device is completely disconnected from the computer when the USB beeps occur. If you listen closely you can hear the switching-beep each time the button gets pressed. I don't know how it did it, but my previous KVM faked/spoofed the connection to the disconnected systems when switching, because the beeps are a new thing from this KVM. Previously the disconnected computer still 'thought' it was connected to a mouse/keyboard that were inactive. I still prefer this KVM over my old one -- my previous had other issues that were much bigger than a slight delay and hearing a beep when I switch. I have a web camera that I am switching with this box and it is working well. It takes several seconds for the camera to reinitialize after the switch, but after a short wait, it pops up and works between the systems. I'm really happy with this KVM switcher, except for how it handles my wireless keyboard and mouse (there's a long delay when I switch), and that's only a minor issue (very minor, really). I like this KVM's slim profile. It is easy to hide, out of the way. It comes with one HDMI, four USB-A to USB-A computer connections, a connected remote control with four tiny buttons for selecting the source, and a short power cable that ends in a USB-A connection to supply power to the unit in case the connected systems don't provide enough on their own. They do provide enough power and this cable is superfluous in my case, but I'm sure it's good that I have it in case I need it. The switching speed on this KVM is a little slower than I expected, but it does switch in less than one second. The real delay that I find slightly annoying is the keyboard and mouse sometimes take more than a second. Maybe this is also a connected-device issue and not the KVM itself. I suspect the wireless connectivity on the devices is the culprit because it drops the computer-connection completely before reconnecting it. The switch powers-off the dongle in between, disconnecting the devices, too. My previous KVM did not power-off the dongle, so the keyboard and mouse didn't have to rescan for the dongle each time. Overall, I am happy with this KVM and I'm glad I have it. ... show more

  • Good KVM switch with great features and build quality
What I like about this KVM switch: - Nice all metal enclosure. No cheap plastic here. - Lower priced competing products only support 30Hz. This KVM is 60Hz. - The lower priced competing products typically only have 1-2 USB ports to share between computers. This one comes with 4 USB ports - Individual buttons for each port instead of single button to switch between them. - Also comes with wired remote button so you don't have to reach over to KVM to switch ports. Was sort of hoping these would come with combo HDMI/USB cables but got single HDMI cable and 4 USB cables. They're about 5 ft long. The combo cables would have been better for cable management. My desk is already a mess of cables so wanted to minimize adding too much to it. There is a power button on the front, which I found sort of odd. Can't think of why I'd ever want to turn off my KVM switch. ... show more

  • Compact unit with a lot of power.
I have had a lot of KVM switches over the years, but this one is a step above. Not only is it 4k, but it also is 60HZ which is important when rendering 4K video. It has 4PC inputs for both HDMI and USB3.0 and one monitor output with the same. You can also daisy chain these if you need more inputs. On the front panel you can plug in up to 4 different USB 3.0 devices as the illustration states such as a printer, USB stick, keyboard and mouse. That way all 4 devices are working on whichever channel you are using. It provides a lot of flexibility without taking up much space. I wouldn’t call it compact, but rather just the right size. ... show more

  • Best Compact 4 port KVM that exists.
I have a few KVM's deployed, and hands down this is the best one I have used so far. 4 ports really makes a huge difference. Also, full disclosure, I plugged the output of this KVM into an input on a 4 port HDMI switch and it worked flawlessly. I even upconverted one of my old machines with a VGA port to output to HDMI using a linear VGA/USB to HDMI adapter and plugged it into this and it's functioned perfectly. I hope they make an 8/16/24 port in the future. I'm serious, it's that good. ... show more

  • As advertised
As advertised. Works great. Good quality. Smooth operation. But it may be a little too expensive. Othet than the price, I am satisfied with this.
