  • So far so good
We tested our soil in our large garden because last year's crops were rather sad. Turns out we have a severe nitrogen depletion. This seemed like a good way to fix it. I tossed about 2/3 of the bag over the garden (about 2000 Sq ft.). It has rained off and on for the two weeks since and I no longer see pebbles in the soil so it seems to have dispersed well. We can't start planting u til the end of May here, so I can't tell how the plants will do until much later. However, the weeds look AHMAZING! My poor garden was even struggling to feed the weeds but all of a sudden my garden looks very lush with them, lol. We will be tilling in a few weeks to really work the nitrogen in and I may toss the rest of the bag in just beforehand if the soil test comes out too low again. Overall a decent product that has definitely helped things grow, even if it's not the things I was trying to grow yet! ... show more

  • 46-0-0 urea nitrogen fertilizer
Very potent nitrogen fertilizer for explosive growth. I’ve been using quite a few products from The Grow Co. with really good results. Powers very strong growth and lasts about 2 weeks. Along with the Grow Co.’s phosphorus and silica potassium nutrients I’m covering all the bases. Using 2 tablespoons per oak tree around the root lines near the drippers, i started this spring with seriously explosive growth and it’s still April! Just be careful using this too much or by itself. Nitrogen does not really strengthen or expand root systems so it’s like skipping leg day for plants. As long as you’re getting potassium for root health and phosphorus for energy, your garden or trees will thrive. May need a cal/mag supplement with iron in your watering regimen but that alone will cover all the bases. Very good stuff for beginners or pros alike. ... show more

  • Good results from testing.
We had poor results in our family garden last year. I bought a nutrient testing kit, and we learned that our soil was severely depleted. I had been using compost and foliage-spray fertilizers, but that was obviously not enough. This fertilizer seemed like a good way to boost the nitrogen. The Good: -We spread the Urea with a 10-10-10 fertilizer. We used the Urea sparingly and the 10-10-10 heavily to even out the other nutrients. I worked both into the moist soil with a tiller. The Urea was easy to work with. -It rained all night, and I retested the soil in the morning. The soil went from completely depleted of nitrogen to something between "Deficient" and "Adequate." On closer inspection, the fertilizers had not dissolved completely. However, I was happy to see the test moving in the right direction. -We have days of rain ahead and we will retest and add more Urea if needed. -The price is very good for a concentrated nitrogen product. The Bad: -Nothing This product met my expectations. ... show more

  • Need More Detailed Directions And Precautions
Got this The Grow Co urea fertilizer 46-0-0 a high nitrogen fertilizer for my vegetable garden plants. From what I can tell it is a high quality urea fertilizer. I am uneasy about using fertilizers on my seedling/starter plants because in the past I has used too much fertilizer and fertilizer burnt my plants. Basically, you put 1/2 teaspoon of this urea around the drip line of the vegetable plants, but they don’t say how often you can fertilize the vegetable plants. For turf, the directions state use 4 time per year. I have read that as a general rule, urea is typically applied to plants once every 4-6 weeks during the growing season, which is when plants are actively growing and require additional nutrients to support their growth and development. In my opinion, the directions and precautions are not clear for seedling/starter plants, how often to use and usage amounts for different plants/vegetables. As far as handling, I would avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Store in a cool, dry place in a tightly closed container. Here is the review ranking basis that I have adopted: ⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality. ⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend. ... show more

  • Seems to be working
I've gave my house plants a little bit a few weeks ago and they seem happy. When I can finally plant my garden veggies, I'm sure they will like this. It actually looks like salt, little white granules.

  • An essential natural conditioner for straw bale gardening
We have many gardens on our homestead and decided to try straw bale gardening for the first time as an experiment: this urea high nitrogen fertilizer turns out to be an essential element for conditioning our straw bales before planting. First step was already completed (leaving the bales out in the rain and keeping them wet), applying this urea is the second step in the process. Urea helps to nourish while breaking up the individual strands of straw though a naturally occurring compost heating process. Some people use bone meal to add nitrogen while conditioning their bales for planting, yet bone meal is very expensive. I am very happy with this large 5 pound bag of urea since it is more affordable and very effective for conditioning our straw bales before we plant our squash and pumpkins into them. ... show more

  • Texture is weird
Weird texture compared to what I have purchased in the big box stores. Very sandy. Layer in our raised beds, and only time will tell. Will come back and update once we have plants produce

  • Great as a little support for my pineapple grove.
This is solid nitrogen, so make sure your plants need it or it might burn the crap out of them. I use just under their recommended amount ratio, and then water it really well in an attempt to dilute. Otherwise, it's a great support bump with the occasional dusting of the vegetables. I got it because my pineapple "grove"--about 25 plants--started to look a little ragged and saggy in their containers. So I'm slowly adding nitrogen and watching how they might recover. But for most tropicals, you'll want some other elements too, so check the balance on what your plants need. All told, this is a handy supplement for the right moments. It's a 5 for me. ... show more
